Yeah I'd like freeze track. Although you can bounce and deactivate the track, which has the same result as you can just undo by reactivating the track and deleting the bounce.Dead0k wrote:nice 2 features and couple extras

I'm not sure about resize tracks- I have this feature in cubase and obviously you can edit midi etc on the actual track, BITWiG you click the track and edit in the window- for me, that keeps things neater, but I must admit when I first tried BITWiG I kept trying to drag the tracks to make them bigger or smaller! Now I don't even think about it, with layered editing in the edit window which can be resized, I just use the track window for layout.
EDIT: @Eta Carinae: Yes, this method is a really good replacement for freezing at the moment.
I think the same about the track resize. It's more helpful not to have it because it keeps the Arranger clean. Just imagine how cluttered it would get together with the track folder feature. I really don't need it.
Layered editing does it for me. (BTW little question: having multiple audio tracks open in layered editing -> how can I drag'n'drop events between them)
I think the update will be awesome!!!
And: did you noticed that "Project Root" in the ? Maybe we can use track folders to show only the tracks of one folder. Would be really cool indeed.

Oh wow yours was way better than mine lolshadiradio wrote:I think they merged our mockups, haha (something I did from a while back):TristanMendoza wrote:Seeing that browser I can't help but think I had some kinda influence on the way it looked
But really, there's only a few ways to go about all this and any browser overhaul would have arrived at something similar. I'm definitely excited about this update! Productivity just leveled up.
I never even saw yours if you posted it here on the forum, I remember just chillin one day and the thought came to me
but yea I understand theres only a few ways to go about it
I don't think they could have done a better job

This is amazing and this is one of the biggest reasons Im so passionate about Bitwigsyra wrote:Guys, the developers are giving us much requested features every quarter. Every 3/4 months not every year. They are working hard non-stop and while they introduced these two heavy-duty features in 1.2 there are many many more under development. The conversation I had with them at NAMM didn't even mention 1.2... It was all about 2/3 years down the line and competing with the heavyweights (sorry Live you're not included in that group).
because they're so passionate about giving us the best tools to create our music with
We have one of the best teams of developers ever and we shouldn't take it for granted

i've heard rumours that this time no closed beta phase is planned yet, and that 1.2 beta will be available to all registered users in febuary.nori.lam wrote:gonna be awesome!!
group within groups is totally mind-blowing.
How many years has that been on the Ableton wish list?
And keep in mind Bitwig has not even had its first birthday yet!
hopefully my Bitwig 1.0 badge gets me a beta test license
For the haters: yes, they should maybe do a closed beta before to avoid the simple bugs in the public.
For the others: i think thats a really strong sign, that they are already quite confident in terms of their software and also maybe better organised by now to handle a larger amount of bug reports.
Glad they wanna go into registered beta streight away. DomDomDom
Also maybe we could do our part for organisation, and ask for another subforum for the beta discussions, and as soon as we collected enough information wether a bug is general or specific to certain systems, we could head over that information..just a thought.
cheers

I hope they do a registered beta, or maybe if it is closed at least have it open for people with 1.0 badge or the premiere badge?Suloo wrote:i've heard rumours that this time no closed beta phase is planned yet, and that 1.2 beta will be available to all registered users in febuary.nori.lam wrote:gonna be awesome!!

I think 'project root' means that you can see all tracks and group tracks of the project. And my imagination tells me that doubleclicking a group track 'browses' into that 'folder' so that only the tracks/groups inside it are visible. The arrow on the left lets me go back to the upper 'group level'.Ogopogo wrote:Yeah that project root thing is the only thing I don't understand and it looks kinda important. Maybe somebody can explain this to us.
Would make sense to me. But only the devs can really tell (or let us wait till beta

Thanks for the clarification- I just bought BWS this week and although I am constantly amazed by what it can do (and why more people haven't been talking about it outside of this forum!) I guess (coming from and still using Cubase 8 and Live 9) I take some things for granted...this explains why I couldn't find 'unfreeze' in the menu, which seems the simplest implimentation.u-u-u wrote:NO, BIP (moment..."bounce in peace"?SLiC wrote:Isn't bounce in place basically the same as freeze?Dead0k wrote:nice 2 features and couple extras

It's always Pre-FX and it doesn't deactivate the instruments it overrides. Maybe the better way do describe it is: it overrides the track source, say: note clips/input or audio clips/input for its time span.

I think the update will be awesome!!!I mean the only DAW I know so far with such a (but a little less) immediate browsing feature is Reason 8. And I assume that we'll also get the Audition when clicking on the plus sign... That means testing out the FX/presets directly on the signal. Will me make more using presets as a starting point for own twisting. BTW, I see no bad in that because even an "initialized" is kinda preset

In the space over top of the tracks in the arrange view where the "back to arrange" button is, it's faint. In the sonicsate video I noticed you can see it changing to say "group" when a group track is selected so it definitely has something to do with groups.

Bitwig 1.2 looks like it's going to be a great update. I'm really happy that you can nest group tracks within group tracks and the audition browser is going to be such a time saver. There are some other cool things in the works but I don't know how much I can say. Sorry, I don't have any videos.
I can say that Tim was showing a version of our Panorama script for Bitwig, which is currently in development. He did a demo for Sound On Sound, so hopefully there will be a video some time soon. Support for our plug-in maps and a new mode for controlling the Drum Machine container are probably the two most notable features.
We had a Bitwig/Nektar dinner tonight and fun was had by all. They're really an amazing group of guys.
