The devs who make music, use the key commands. The 1-8 keys are faster for switching tools than opening a menu and making a selection. Especially the momentary key toggle option is sweet!
Depends on how your brain works. I find that a lot of times using the mouse is faster since I don't have to move my eyes away from the screen to look down to the keyboard to know where to position my hand to press the numbers on the keyboard, especially when I now I don't need a momentary toggle. Just hold right mouse button, move mouse, release right mouse button. That's why I don't like the new spray can tool. To do things you could do with pencil tool and "classic" modifiers that I can reach without looking at my keyboard now I have to look down to switch tool, use modifier if needed and switch back. Just more hassle for no added benefit.
But the real problem is not if one way is better then the other but the fact that 6 is messing with 10+ years of muscle memory for somebody.
Spot on and 100% agree. My workflow is similar and who wants to remember which numbers tally up to a tool. I put stickers on my cheap usb keybaord so i don't have to, but when i'm on my laptop which no way im putting stickers on, its all right click pop up tool bar.

It's not when you have you're playing keys with one hand and the other hand is on the mouse scrolling presets on screen or making tweaks, setiing loops points or whatever else. I do this all the time and my left hand stays on the midi keyboard, the right goes between the mouse and the midi keyboard to play two handed riffs. That's just one scenario.

In V6 i'd be going between the midi keys, qwerty keys and the mouse, that's slower than before and i proved that with the many videosi sent them back in 2015 when i started this thread. Hence why they eventually put it in, it was a logical move, especially as it snaggeg a bunch of cubase & studio one users :dog: :hihi:
It would've just made much more sense to have both workflows as part of 6.0 as they excel in different scenarios

You work exactly as i do, just push 1 and maschine 3 is the only difference :phones:
