Any particular reason you want that?Numanoid wrote:I want to be able to do it without the pattern running in FL Studio.thecontrolcentre wrote:I don't understand what you mean. Can't you jam with the transport running? That's what I've been doing in Live.

Because I mostly use my DAW to jam with, I want to be able to just put an envelope on the FX chain alongside reverb or echo (for example), without having the pattern running.
I mean, you don't have to have the DAW on play, when tweaking with the ADSR envelope on a plug, you just need to press a key on the midi keyboard to hear the result.

As I said earlier, I'm just a pesky customer, asking for features, and probably posting way way too much, a'right
BTW, catch 22 much?

Typically that plugin is dealing with internally generated data though no? Kuvert is processing what it's fed from the DAW and varying it over time in a similar way to automation - and that doesn't work without playback eitherNumanoid wrote:I mean, you don't have to have the DAW on play, when tweaking with the ADSR envelope on a plug, you just need to press a key on the midi keyboard to hear the result.

Reverb or Delay plugs also have to deal with the possibility that a user might change parameters in the middle of playing, and they manage that without being on playback.AegisPrime wrote:Kuvert is processing what it's fed from the DAW and varying it over time in a similar way to automation - and that doesn't work without playback either
Maybe something got lost in the translation, but I read this statement on the webpage of the Dev as that the incoming audio doesn't have to be running on auto:
"The envelopes are looped, while the incoming audio isn’t (unless you’re feeding it looped material of course)"

I know this isn't the first effect I've used that is dependent on the host's transport state for processing, though offhand I can't recall which other ones I'm thinking of.
Is your host unable to loop? Because I don't see why you can't hit "play" on the transport and just jam without having anything sequenced.

1) It can affect other stuff I have on the FX chain.thecontrolcentre wrote:In order to understand your request for Kuvert to work without the transport running. It seemed like you were asking for a feature just for the sake of it. Do you have a reason?Numanoid wrote:I understand that you ask a question, but I wonder why you ask it
2) I'm not sure if the CPU use is the same when DAW is running, or not
3) I feel I have a better control of what I am trying to do, when I do not have to start and stop the DAW on top of trying to play
Agree with it or not, it seems weird that one should have to go through a third degree interogation just because of a suggestion of a feature expansion

No third degree. Was just curious why you requested a feature that is not needed and then tried to avoid explaining why ...Numanoid wrote:1) It can affect other stuff I have on the FX chain.thecontrolcentre wrote:In order to understand your request for Kuvert to work without the transport running. Numanoid, how do you think it should work then? It would need to be significantly changed how it works, I assume. I mean, without the sequencer telling that the time is rolling, how would the plugin know how long is X bars -- and especially, how would it know when to start the looped envelopes? Audio or MIDI triggers? It would change the concept if the start could be triggered any time. Might be a useful feature though, but works just fine as it is. If it was continuously rolling even without the host sequencer playing, it wouldn't sync with other plugin sequencers that you might be using (arps, drum boxes).
