Monark is a 3xOSC plug, I don't think that is the best comparison to make with.

Looking at the video of Dagger, does it lack bottom end, or is it just the sound of the vid that is lacking

Post

try the demo, it doesn't lack bottom end, just polyphony !
the sound is really juicy !

Some demos recorded at 320kbps

btw. Initially it was designed as 1 osc synth - adding 2nd was a hard decission ;)

yeah, lol at the "does it lack bottom end?" innocent question, but no, this thing is serious. f'ing great job with this synth overall.

Running OSX 10.9.5. Dagger VST crashes Cubase 8.5 during startup when plugins are scanned. And crashes DSP Quattro during startup scanning, as well. No issues with Sunrizer by comparison. 1.0.0 seemed to be ok. 1.0.2 and 1.0.4 OSX VST clearly having issues (don't know if it's just me, or others?).

Post

This has been tested on Cubase 8.5. But hunting again, fixing and updating :)

It seems to go wildly out of tune at anything above 44.1khz

Thanks for investigating this and working on an update - much appreciated!

This got my money. It has some of the most convincing 70's analog timbres I've heard that are not coming from actual analog. I don't care about the absence of polyphony or the modest number of modulation options - it's lively and listening to that Berlin demo immediately brought home the feeling of the synths on old Tangerine Dream records. Multitracking with these sounds, should I ever do that, will be worth the effort :clown:

I also picked up Sunrizer - it's the kind of versatile VA I think I was shopping for in the back of my mind. It has "the" JP supersaw sound, it lets you dial in some FM timbres, and it does a pretty darn good job at poly analog stuff too, even if it isn't boasting fancy-pants circuit modelling. Very nice stuff.

Dagger 1.04 works great now in Reaper and I bought the bundle, so now I've got Sunrizer too. One thing though, I can't access the preset menu in Sunrizer in Reaper (osx, Reaper 5). Clicking on the top menu doesn't do anything. No big deal for me, using Logic as main daw.
My name is Jonas.

Itoa, saw the 1.0.6 update, installed it and the Cubase VST scanning crash is gone. Not sure what the issue was, but it's gone now. Thanks -- two thumbs-up for the quick turn-around and fix!

I am liking this dev more and more. Two great synths!
