Yeah this is ridiculous. It makes logic unusable for me since the only workaround I can find is to manually move the automation points so it sounds OK.tedannemann wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 3:07 pm Amazing update! But God ****ing damn it! Logic 10.5 is still missing side-chain PDC and also plug-in delay compensation for automation. This can't be real!!!
Any Logic user please take the time and make a report to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html
Information why you can't use any high latency plug-ins to its full extent in Logic Pro X: https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/view ... 21#p759021

I’m not trying to sound reactionary, I better play with it some before I say stuff like this but Apple may of won me back.
I left logic in the dust because it’s sampling wasn’t nearly as easy and painless as Live. Sampling is a huge part of my workflow and the simpler/sampler duo of live just works with me. Alchemy is cool and all but it’s a synth more then a sampler in my eyes, and ESX was an eyesore from 2002.
These new Asthetic improvements like The sampler are literally critical for me. Fixing some of the old plugins that I couldn’t use since I bought the new MacBook simply because I couldn’t stand the strain the pixilated and ugly interfaces brought on me.
I’m so pumped!

Can someone explain the PDC issue to me? I’m confused on what that is?

I own logic, but I didn't even download it on my new Mac. But I'll be honest, I like what I'm seeing. I hope Bitwig brings a step sequencer in. I think I'll download Logic to check it out. I also like that iPad app that complements it.

The quick sampler is like ableton's simpler and its GREAT.
Also Drum Machine Designer now fully supports custom kits and defaults to an EMPTY KIT.
Step Sequencer is splendid.
Ultrabeat is retinized but needs a better skin, but at least it looks sharp and is scalable
I think it's a great update.
The new drum synth feels like its based on Ultrabeat engine - but has plenty of useful sounds and is painless to use.

So, are sessions with exs loading sampler with no issues? Is there a cpu difference or sound difference?

The issue I have is with automation. If you use a plugin that introduces latency into the signal path logic does not compensate the automation correctly. To see what I mean use any apple loop, put a Linear Phase EQ as a plug-in on that track, and automate anything on that plugin (it works best if you do an immediate High freq cut or something to really accentuate the issue). When you play back the automation doesn’t cut the frequencies at the right time because the EQ has introduced latency to the path and the automation isn’t compensated so it is late.Spencer Maddox wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 4:07 pm Can someone explain the PDC issue to me? It has, the step sequencer is amazing.mrj1nx wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 4:18 pm Wow! What an update! Is this goodbye Ultrabeat and EXS24 ??I wonder if the step sequencer does euclidian and poly rythm stuff

Ultrabeat is still there, now fully retinized but still ugly as f**k.mrj1nx wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 4:18 pm Wow! What an update! Is this goodbye Ultrabeat and EXS24 ??I wonder if the step sequencer does euclidian and poly rythm stuff

The step sequencer is very powerful...
There is a learn mode and you can play keyboard notes to assign lanes with that note value. If you use aftertouch, it also makes a lane for that as well as pitchbend etc.
