I don't want to make the great the enemy of the good here. The fact is, UI scaling makes Waves plugins more usable. My eyes are grateful at this point. I know it's cool to hate Waves but I find their plugins to be very reliable and they sound good to my ears.

I'd love to see these plugins reworked with actual 4k rendered art. But what happens when we move to 8k?

It seems like it would be smart for companies to move toward a vector based UI system so that scaling isn't even a concern... but that goes against the Waves tradition of bitmaps & rendering 3d graphics for their UIs.

As far as the Waves hate goes, here's a random list off the top of my head of Waves plugins I think are great:

Omni Channel, Scheps 73, F6 Dynamic EQ, L1 Ultramaximizer+, Waves WLM Plus, H-Reverb & H-Delay, Abbey Road TG Mastering Chain, Renaissance Vox & Renassance Comp, Sheps Parallel Particles, J37 tape & Kramer Tape, Waves NLS, SSL Channels & Compressor, CLA-76, Abbey Road Chambers & Plates, the API set, Puigtec EQ & Puigchild Compressor, dbx 160 compressor, Infected Mushroom Pusher, the Greg Wells plugins. Oh man, even the One Knob set is nice to have... MV2. IR1. S1. Brauer Motion, so much movement. MondoMod. Berzerk & MDMA distortions. Center. Even the F2 is great for a quick low footprint hipass/lowpass. Heck, I even like NX & Abbey Studio 3... I could keep going on and on. I haven't even mentioned some of the other artist series plugins which have their uses.

I feel like the odd-man-out here at KVR, being a Waves fan. But I bet there's a quiet bunch of people who feel similar.

Maybe Waves isn't great when you just have a few plugins and you're hit with that WUP... But if you're a Mercury user and you pick up other collections like Abbey Road and miscellaneous bits not included ---

Suddenly you have an entire suite of tools that can do almost anything. I think that's where the real value is... And they all have a common toolbar system and good manuals. And good presets... and impeccable stability. You can just work!

And since most of the Waves plugins are really old -- if you're running a modern PC the performance is incredible.

I don't know, man... Odd man out or not, I'm loving this update.

lol, this is so dumb. I updated to 12 and the plugins don't load anymore...

I'm with you, chk071. But Waves' big version jumps (e.g. V11 > V12) happen faster and faster lately. In the past Waves was more user friendly in this regard.

You aren't. The people notoriously hating on Waves here might think they have the moral and ethic right to do so, but, they don't, especially when noone is forced to buy or update their plugins (I don't know how many times one has to repeat that these days... I have a feeling most of the haters don't buy the plugins anyway, but just have fun taking a dump and politicizing everything, once again).

I have zero doubt that they're into making money. I have zero doubt any other company tries the same though. Look at Steinberg, with their yearly paid updates, look at Presonus getting quicker and quicker with their release cycle.

You know, there's something everyone can do about it. Stop buying if they're not OK with it. Even the ten thousandth lament on this forum won't change a thing on the other hand. I just don't get it. Political shit wherever you look.

These upscaled raster images are not worth the WUP upgrade, will wait until they add proper resolution support not this crap. And the plugin browser... why they didn't they give it instantly by pressing Load? Lazy programming, Waves, lazy.

EDIT:
Default size 100% in 2560x1080. MixBox is the only plugin I have that is that much blurry until it's resized significantly (which is kinda pointless for me because I don't need or want 1 plugin to cover entire screen space)
doesn't look like retina tbh

Retina / catalina update was maintenance for majority of plugin devs.
only waves first charged for catalina and then for retina support separately, 8 years late.

Steinberg adds lots of features in their updates. Huge difference imho.
But you are right at the end of the day no one is forcing you to pay Waves.
But my goodness they are 'one of a kind'.

Ok, I assume resizable GUI's are not a feature then.

See, I don't want to defend Waves, I just think this eternal lament about everything Waves does, by the always same people is purely political. And pretty spoiled brat style.

For the love of god, those people should keep their wallet holstered, and stop playing the crybaby. It's ridiculous.

You can check 'Open Browser by Default' - in Preset Broser's Menu (3 horizontal stripes) and then it's showing instead of old one.

Search option in new Preset Browser (I suppose that it's a great thing for preset users)

Then lazy me for not figuring that out. Thanks!

Damn, by looking at so many rushed buggy products recently coming from big companies I can only imagine how much more I'll be annoyed when I jump to 4K monitor and I'll have to add buggy crappy resizable GUIs to the list of the rising number of bugs in recent releases :D

At least all Waves plugins are always (in my case anyway) finished at the release date - this is becoming less and less a norm.
