just try the free demo. I don't know if it NAILS the low end or not since I don't have a 106, but I compared the presets to the real 106 presets at synthmania and they were spot on with slightest variation that doesn't really matterAh_Dziz wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:50 pm I might grab this. I had a 106 for a few years back when I was starting out making music. I really liked it for super resonant bass sounds. I was less enthralled with it's pads and usually used the cz-1 and the an1x for pads. If they nailed the low end then it would be worth the low price for me.
I gotta say that this guy is a bit off with his reasoning. He talks about the dcos and then proceeds to fiddle with the analog VCF and VCA portion of the synth. The cool thing about dcos was better tuning and less drift allowing for a more solid sound and great temperature stability. Then if you wanna get wobbly with it you can add the lovely chorus. The filter and VCA are both OTA based analog designs (the same as on the juno 60). Just saying. None of this will matter in the slightest since it's a digital emulation, but that bit of the video bugged me.
I assume you mean around 5 minutes in. Yeah its muddy there but he's using the self-oscillation of the filter to demonstrate the stepping in the encoding mechanism I think but mentions the DCO. On the other hand its still a good review IMHO.Ah_Dziz wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 11:47 pmI gotta say that this guy is a bit off with his reasoning.
