Actually not.
Disregarding the 'professional' flagships (Nuendo, Sequoia, Pro Tools Ultimate ..):
FL Studio All Plugins is 889 €
Tracktion Waveform Extreme is 749 USD
Suite is 599 € normally, 479 now
Cubase Pro is 559.99 € without Dongle (581,99 € with Dongle)
Pro Tools 559 € (Ultimate is 2,400 €)
Reason Suite is 549 €

Studio One is 396 €
Bitwig Studio is 379 €
Mixbus 32c is 368 € (well, that's really theoretically only)
Live Standard is 349 € (now 279 €)

And than there's Logic.

Most people buying Live will buy the Suite which is $749 so definitely in the upper end of expensive.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

Is it true that Ableton are keeping a list of people who make bitter comments on Facebook and REFUSE to upgrade?
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

You see the price of Suite up there, it's 599 € (now 479 €), so more or less the same as Cubase Pro, Pro Tools (not Ultimate ;) and Reason Suite. And cheaper as the big versions of FL Studio and Trackion.
The upper end of expensive are Pro Tools Ultimate 2,400 €, Nuendo 1,000 € and Sequoia 2,975 €

I started with Ableton Intro 9, upgraded to 9 Standard, and then 10 Standard. I also bought Sampler and Operator. Not tremendously expensive and works fine for my needs.

Yes. They send it to Santa Claus every year and on Christmas Day he's swapping Live licenses to Cool Edit Pro 95 Demo as a punishment for naughty Live users

Originally it was Zuckerberg idea because he hates angry Live users.

I’d argue that Suite is comparable to FL Signature rather than All Plugins, plus All Plugins is £400 right now. So basically there’s 1 DAW more expensive than Ableton Suite at regular price.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

If they update too often, many people may not upgrade.
I would have said the same about Steinberg or Presonus, but... seems to work. People do the upgrades.

New and shiny is always a thing.

Aye, funny mate

There's a lot of truth on here. I initially wasn't fussed about the update, and was actually disappointed at first. But I wasn't angry. I don't really get that. Ambivalence, disappointment, I understand but not anger. Compare it to the Cubase upgrade. There's actually a lot to the Live 11 update, whether it not it interests you is another matter
