Yes they needed a credible moog, and I think this is now the most """Analog""" sounding synth in the V collection. I've certainly had a lot of fun noodling with it.sin night wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:37 am About the Minimoog “rebuild”: while it’s not the most original instrument choice when it come to what to emulate (it has been done to death), I think it’s sort a “benchmark” once you have it in your product portfolio.

This is actually a good point about the minimoog, I've seen this argument used a lot vs Arturia actually.sin night wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:37 am I didn’t log into my user account yet, so at the moment I don’t know my upgrade price; anyway the list of new instruments doesn’t seem much interesting for what I do (it may be useful to other people, hopefully).
About the Minimoog “rebuild”: while it’s not the most original instrument choice when it come to what to emulate (it has been done to death), I think it’s sort a “benchmark” once you have it in your product portfolio.
It’s so easy to say “this company does the Minimoog worse than the other brand, so it’s the same for the whole product line” (and maybe the other products have been developed after the Minimoog and have some improved tech… it’s not a fair or even correct comparison, but since it’s possible to compare the Minimoog emulations from various brands, I think it’s sort of a “business card”).
Do I need 10 Minimoog emulations? I wish I had just one, a definitive emulation. I’m not interested in adding yet another one (actually: upgrading what I own), but I can see the reasons behind it… I didn’t listen to the new version yet, hopefully I won’t need yet another Minimoog emu (that’s what my bank account hopes, too).

Oh no, the new Minimoog sounds really good. This makes upgrading slightly harder to resist

Yeah as I'm playing with VX, the Mini V4 is standing out. Not sure if V3 has it and I missed it, but V4 has unison spread which is making things sound awfully nice. And the "Vintage" dial is magic.

Updated the MIDI driver and it wreaked havoc on my system turning USB ports off and on and killing audio. After uninstalling and removing all registry entries, only completely shutting down the system, and temporarily disconnecting it reset the system back to normal. Other than that, everything works as expected.
I have to agree the Mini is a nice improvement. And I love the Augmented Woodwinds. Mini Freak is good, but it's still a bit meh to my tastes.

Four pages of pricing chat before discussion of how the instruments sound. Never change, KVR.
The new Mini sounds great. A cool feature I haven't seen in the other popular emulations is the button that compensates for low end loss at high resonance. Nice for adding bite to the top end of a bass. The Mini was one of the older synths that people liked to trash Arturia for, and now that they've updated it, they're getting trashed for updating it. Obviously, they were going to redo the Mini at some point, and they put out a lot of other stuff before they got to it, so I think it was the right time. I hope the Moog Modular is next.
I'm really enjoying Augmented Woodwinds. Some people get upset that the Augmented instruments are included in V collection without realizing that the Augmented plug-ins are full of synth layers to, well, augment the real instruments.
I barely used the previous version of Wurli, so I don't know how it sounded, but the new one sounds good. I might turn to it more often now that I've explored it in the update.
The CP-70 sounds great. It has a cozy sound. I'm going to use this.
I already had Acid. I don't know how accurately it's meant to emulate a 303 so much as it's inspired by it and the genre it created. I use ABL3 for that genre, but the sequencer is fun to play with, and I can see using Acid for leads as well.
I think Augmented Grand Piano was also added to the collection in this update. As expected, it's a piano augmented with sample layers. I use Piano more often, but I can see myself turning to this for a different sound.

I just don’t see anything that really stands out as far as updating. I’m sure the Mini v is great but I got a copy of the Moog Mini somehow attached to the Model 15 that i haven’t even really messed with. Haven’t downloaded the demo but people are saying a new drive and analog feature as well as filters, great, but I always thought the oscillators sounded thin in the mini v, anyway maybe in 6 months when it’s on sale for $99, but not for the $199 I’m offered.
I’m not interested in the augmented series, anymore than I’m interested in NI’s Play series, Romplers style instrument's don’t really interest me.

Thanks. Great to read your thoughts on the actual instruments.bonch wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:20 am Four pages of pricing chat before discussion of how the instruments sound. Never change, KVR.

So i have The Lengend and use it for many years, aswel Diva and Minimoog's UAD version. I have to say this by Arturia sounds the same as The Legend which i like it alot plus it has many features to add like FX, LFOs and envelopes. Im happy for Arturia V collection owners that they will finaly going to get a proper moog version they deserve.
As for me, i dont need it

Man, this sounds good...the sound is (and I hate to say and use this term) record-ready. It holds nicely and is polished. Sure FX is drenched but you can hear it.briefcasemanx wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:21 am Oh no, the new Minimoog sounds really good. This makes upgrading slightly harder to resist
Does anyone know the level of improvement they made? Are we going to see the same thing for their massive modular?

I'm hoping that the improved Moog filter will be ported back to Pigments
It's really nice that they improved this their Moog Mini, as its such an essential and basic sound.

Yes please pretty please can we get the new Moog filter in Pigments?
Although I think the worst part of Pigments is the awful sounding oscillators in the "VA" section. Wish they could make those oscillators not sound like hot garbage (worse than the oscillators in even the worst of their emulations).
