But the important question is, have they finally actually updated the UI of Kontakt? We were all hoping Kontakt 7 would finally be a UI that moves beyond the 2004 graphics. And all they did was add a new browser.

Any word if Kontakt 8 actually updated the UI for the editor itself?

More importantly, will Access become more universally functional and perhaps give us better download options?
Access 3 to even consider spending any time with them...

I suspect most people wait a few months for the inevitable 50% off sale if the want it...
Anyone feeling the need to upgrade or just wait and maybe upgrade Kontakt?
They've done preorders for it before: they did it in the days when they actually shipped the DVDs or hard drive out.

I think this might be the first time there's an incentive to preorder the download (Neutron 4).

I'm 99% confident that it's left as is... nothing in the blurbs about updated interface, just a bunch of new "tools" added...

so much tools that the writers block is guaranteed, enjoy your new reason to waste time fiddling with options greater than ever

There is a totally different UI clearly seen near the top of the page here - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/s ... mplete-15/

That's a totaly new browser on the LHS, and what looks like a navigator above with controls like mute, solo, volume and pan. There's no instrument headers in the main pane too. So this is actually quite radically different. No word yet if that is a new option or a replacement.

If you look at the page comparing the editions, it's not there for any edition.

Strange, cause all the Reaktor-Synths are included in this list. Did they now work as VSTs? Thought they tried that and cancelled it after one Plugin.

I guess when it’s your only real product you have left, you gotta keep charging people for it over and over again.
Ironically a big reason Kontakt is so ubiquitous is because it was such a stable platform that didn't change much. I guess third party library developers are just going to keep targeting a lower version of Kontakt anyway to maximize their user base (unless NI force them to target the latest version, kind of like what Steinberg are doing with VST), which makes these constant updates even more pointless.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

When you type "Native Instruments Komplete 15" in google, you get results from music shop SonoVente with Komplete 15 different versions & artworks...

No info yet when you click on it though, so still a mystery what the 2 or 3 new added products will be.
It definitely looks like NI is moving away from being innovators in synthesis, and now just focusing on Sampling.

What's even more disturbing is Kontakt 7 was the focus of the last Komplete upgrade. And little mention of what 8 actually improves on over 7.

15 years ago NI was the top dogs in synths. 10 years ago NI had their foot in all aspects of sound (synths, sampling, effects). You knew you were getting alot with each update.

This update feels so one sided now.

Even back when NI killed products, there was still so much innovation going on, it tended to get looked over.

Even though they haven't officially killed anything this time, by the lack of other programs not being updated like Massive X, FM8, Battery they might as well as there is fierce competition in those arenas now and NI neglected these apps. Massive X is an updated product but they failed to keep this competitive with other Wavetable products. FM8 and Battery are basically legacy products as they haven't been updated in over 10 years.

Battery is weird because it somewhat competes with Maschine and somewhat with Kontakt. Also many DAWS like Ableton have Drum Samplers built right in now so it makes it a bit harder to stand out.

FM synthesis in the last several years has gotten popular and there were many new FM synths created since then but NI hasn't really showed up.

By all accounts, the Reaktor to VST experiment is over. The question is whether NI will keep including the full Reaktor version or just Reaktor Player, which would technically be enough to run those legacy synths.

I can't answer if K8 has a different 'modern' browser or not, but I will say as someone who uses Kontakt almost daily for over 15 years and has developed quite a muscle memory with it and a familiarity with the interface, I sure hope that if they do tweak the UI, it won't be radically different or at least give the option for the older familiar UI.
My two cents.
Lord knows I find spitfire player, soundsonlinr player and orchestral tool players very unattractive.

It's weird because it includes both Reaktor Prism and Reaktor Spark so you would think it would include Reaktor too so they can work properly
Unless they converted them to VST version which was the case for some time for Super 8... :(
I don't think they will discontinue Reaktor because there are some third party devs such as Toybox Audio which are plugged in to the NI and Reaktor ecosystem and NI Access

If they ditch Reaktor this will be the fail of the fails
Both run with Reaktor Player only. So a full version of R6 is not needed...
Welp, I guess it's time to look for Reaktor alternative. That's really depressing - I wonder when they take down the Reaktor user library and it might be not a bad idea to do some backups.

it seems that reaktor 6 full is only part of the collector edition...

Just Kontakt 8

Guitar Rig 7 Pro has been out in the wild.

They also removed lots of content from Standard to make Ultimate more enticing.
Yes it been available but Guitar Rig 7 was never part of Komplete 14.
That is correct.
