robisme wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 10:25 am I wonder if one of my u-he plugins (zebra2, zebraH2, Presswerk, Satin) is causing Reaper to hang and crash. On Linux, running from the terminal, there is a lot of log verbose, and it appears that sometime, if I let a project open and idle, there is a sudden hang, huge cpu load, and at this moment, I find a lot of u-he log in the terminal.
These beta versions contain the same amount of logging than any final release versions.
There usually is a bit of logging when a plugin instance is loaded.
But after that, it's just occasional logging that can often help us track down issues a user might report.
We do not keep any logging active that could impact the performance.
You can, of course, contact our support, so we can look at your logs.
Thanks for the precision, it must be something else then. I have a bunch of plugins using wine (kontakt, melda, morphit), maybe the issue is from there. But I still find weird that for Satin, each time I press a note on my keyboard, a log is output (note on, note off). If Rachmaninov would play my piano, it would certainly burn my terminal ;-)
And look at the screenshot : Satin alone, in a project that is not running, takes 12% of cpu power.

You can both hear it and see it on your track volume meter.

PS: I love how the effects section was redone with hiding and reordering! :tu:

Short audio pops are probably due to some FX initializing some kind of charge.

This is caused by Jaws, the wavefolder.
We already reduced clicks caused by Jaws during preset switch quite a bit, but couldn't get rid of every occurrence. (due to what Urs just wrote right above)

Good to know it was already on your radar. Thank you both!

You can always go back to the previous version if that works better for you.

As I think I said, we most likely fixed the problem you have, but it was a major surgery - hence we do not immediately have a new version for public testing. Once Repro is updated we'll continue to update Presswerk.
Thanks! Where I can find the old version?
On its webpage: https://u-he.com/products/presswerk/

We just updated the first post with a new public beta of Presswerk 1.1.6, revision 16800.
It fixes the latency compensation issue when using the bypass button.

Cool. Can we still not use the clap version, or is it ok now ?

The CLAP version has a possible crash or deadlock. Best to avoid until it's fixed. The developer who's fixing this will be back in January afaik, so that's why we keep it as a beta for now.
