I don't know. I have been in this for more than 20 years. I saw many things. Some flew high and failed miserably. This one...hmmm..Every time I open Zebralette 3, I have the impression I am running pinnacle of not just software synthesis programming, but ... I am not even sure how to express myself. Everything is so well thought out, from the interface to the underlying engine's workflow and ideas presented to me.

Ein Meisterwerk über alles hinaus.

really nice !
a 2 osc "zebramini" would be a great addition to z3. Will allow easy and quick sound design. Not for free but in addition to z3 for example.

What a nice dark skin!

Is it expected that CTRL A and CTRL B default settings will have no effect? I set it to CC 24 and 25 to use the mutli/poly knobs, but it has no effect...

Btw. I would prefer a visual representation of CTRL A/B, too, next to mod wheel etc. Ok, might be a bit late, but since this is a common thing in all U-He synth, I somehow would expect a graphics for this, too.

Agreed. Would be nice to have those as 'macro'knobs in the UI 👌🏻

It works the same as in any other u-he plugin. On the preferences page you set the defaults for newly loaded plugin instances. A change there won't affect the currently loaded instance as you can have different CCs assigned to each instance. To change the assignment of the current instance, go to the MIDI table page where you'll find the "per instance control" setting.

That's been on our radar for a long time. I think we will do this, just can't say when.
Hello! Hope this is the right place to ask, but are you keeping the distortion/fold/etc modules in Z3? Not just as effects but as per voice effects?

Thanks!

There'll be per voice wavefolders and distortion. Not necessarily the same as in Zebra 2. Probably better sounding with a simpler interface.

Will we be able to save our own waveforms like in Zebra 2 in a future update?

There'll certainly be oscillator presets like in Z2, where combinations of Curves, Guides and OscFX are preserved.

I do not know yet if we will or won't add a way to browse individual waveforms. This depends on how the overall experience is gonna go. We'll probably start without, and if we think it's needed, we might add something later. However, one can already move, import and export waveforms (well, "Curves" in Zebra 3) in various ways:

Exporting the Curves to .wav is already possible in Zebralette 3, for wavetables as used in Hive. As we built "wavetable recording" into Zebra 2 as a means to create wavetables for Hive, the export of Curves to .wav is going to replace it. We do not think we'll have the same kind of "wavetable recording" in Zebra 3.

Furthermore one can copy & paste Curves in Zebra 3 - between multiple modules as well as instances and even to other things, such as ModMappers and text editors. Latter is interesting because Curves are copied in .uhm format, and we have plans to extend .uhm to make good use of them. That means, we expect sound designers to be able to use the Zebra(lette) 3 editors to create material used in .uhm scripts for Hive. We sure will do so ourselves.

We also have further tech and products in the works in various stages (mostly early, I guess) which are set to interact with the editor. Like, things that take audio samples and convert them to Hive wavetables or Zebra 3 Curves - waveforms and envelopes - in more convenient ways than Zebra(lette) 3's built-in interface.

Awesome thanks Urs.

One more for ya…what was the reason you decided to have the curve set available as a way to manipulate the Osc FXs and other things?

To me, it seems the Guides are enough and I can’t figure out why you would use the curve set over the guides?

Thanks

My layman understanding is that the Guides only crossfade, while the Curves morph. The Guides use less CPU than Curves.

Thanks. I guess I’m not sure what the difference is between cross fade and morphing.
