You're getting warm on the orchestral thing there. Think bigger though.
SampleTank 2.1? Okay, I'll give you that one. New Stretch engine that ROCKS! I tried it on a B3 with leslie the other day and everyone was just knocked out. You have some more control over stretch and those two modes (that WAS kind of obvious from the pic I thought). There's a formant preservation knob too. Splits now for your bass on the left and piano on the right kind of performance stuff. Velocity ranges between the layers too. (can someone please do me a favor and feel free to cut and paste this and put it into the SR forum too? I am not as available as normal- it is even 4:30 am and I am working). Oh, and yes there 'might' even be some features regarding the patches such as possible 'scrolling' but this is a rumour only. There may be some more options in sound management at least that give more flexibility and ease of use (a trademark of all IK products).
ST2.1 has some other really cool features too. How about double the amount of outputs to 16 stereo/32mono? Nice huh? Here's a feature I know you guys will like. FREE update for ST2 users.
That's right! Well, the application part of the update is free anyway. There's also a major sound update but that is TBA. More sounds using the new stretch engine and 2 DVDs (new standard for these ST workstations). The sound update will cost something but probably not much and of course it will be optional (so you could get the features for free or the sounds too for the value of what the new sounds would cost anyway...even better value as usual). Hey, IK won the Electronic Musician editor's choice award for ST2 yesterday! Not bad eh? Wait till everyone has 2.1!
Other stuff? Well, I will be showing Studiophonik. That you guys know about. I am showing an early prototype version of it though. There's a couple of prototypes actually. A couple of pretty major things with amp modeling in it (a couple of things???? hmmmmm).
It's getting good. I've been feeling the step up in production for a while because I am a part of that side of things now and have been for the past year and a half or so since we announced the strategic alliance between IK and SR. That means the two companies work together and share resouces to offer a better product, better service, better everything. It takes a while for you to see the results because good work takes time. But, more and more we are seeing improvements and progress being made. This NAMM you REALLY get to see it in a big way. You should request the new IK catalog. It says it all. It's a great BOOK with a lot of information and pictures. A fun read and an exciting time to be making music with these tools for 2005.

New products:
IK AmpliTube 2
IK/Ampeg SVX Bass Amp & FX modeling plug-in
IK/SR Studiophonik
IK/SR Philharmonik (Miroslav)
IK SampleTank 2.1
IK TRacks TDM
Other cool stuff too. Sonik Synth 2 is being officially launched (ie. dealers stocking up!).
The catalog is beautiful. There's also a demo CD with free plug-ins on it. SS2 FREE, ST2 FREE and AmpliTube Uno (a new single amp plug for FREE). The cool thing is that you have a bunch of sounds for the modules all on this disc. You can probably request one from IK. Or maybe I can get some for esoundz to throw in on orders of IK stuff.

It sounds so good. I only have a real preliminary version at the show with the basic Miroslav sample library in it but actually as expensive as that library is relative to the cost of this that has ALL of it in there, there's even MORE value in the fact that SR and IK bought Miroslav's archive out completely which includes gigs and gigs of unreleased material, additional notes and articulations that are in there too. It's a really good deal and of course for ST2 users there'll be a crossgrade too. A superb collection. I like most orchestral collections out there for different things. I really do. I don't like Sonic Implants the company much but I think their String library sounds nice. I know Garritan and many things he does is nice as well. I have Vienna and that does fantastic things. But, what they ALL don't have is the particular magical and inspiring sound that Miroslav captured and SR enhanced with programming of IK's engine. It's really musical and inspiring. Plus, it has things that some others don't. For instance, I don't think Vienna has 23 violins (does it? I don't think so but I'd have to check to be sure). Well, you get both 11 violins AND 23 violins with Miroslav Philharmonik. But, that's nothing. Wait until I start talking about the interactive performance controls it has where you can do swells and increase true expressivo with the modwheel etc.smart wrote:this one looks awesome. You realize that you are going to hell for making me broke, don't ya?
I just bought Sonik Synth 2 and recently purchased ST2. Now, I need (yes, I need, not want) Studiophonik, Philharmonik and AmpliTube 2. There is SOOOOO much to buy after NAMM that it is not even funny. Well, maybe a little funny.
Cheers,
Rabban

I know, I know. It's worth it though. These products really can make a huge difference in your production capability. It's scary. You can do so much. Ohhhh. I forgot. AT2 has a model of the famous CE-1 chorus. Dead on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best chorus ever made imo. That's what I am talking about! I have a real one but oddly enough the plug-in actually sounds better than mine!!! (but this is because it has a mod on it that made it quieter but took out a little umph that's why).
