I agree with you entirely braj. Communication with loyal T1 users has been very poor.braj wrote: Not updating their site with new material when the site specifically requests you to check back weekly? Not great....
I notice when sites aren't updated for a month when they imply they will be. I notice when release dates are in the past but no product is on the shelf.
When I first saw - on Christmas Eve - that T2 was finally on its way - after many months of complete silence from Mackie - I was very excited about the release, and avidly watched the Mackie site for updates.
In fact, the poor management of information and selective approach to replying to questions and dealing with enquiries... has definitely taken the shine of T2.
Most of you know that schools in our town aren't now getting T2 - at least for the time being - but chances are I will get it myself. But I'm nowhere near as excited mow as I was three months ago.

ya know beno is the saving grace in all this. i suppose this is to be expected when a big company acquires someone's labor of love. it's hard to maintain the same level of care after that.
i see it more and more....all we can do is kvetch and wait.

Wow, this forum is so full of... er... odd characters.

I have to echo what ModuLR said... I just don't think the same way some of the people here do, so I guess I can't really 'argue', but I CAN say what my eyes see:
1. Daily communication from Mackie
2. A sense of humour on Mackie's part, not just for T2 but for all marketing I've seen
3. Proven commitment to RMS and Tracktion
4. A dedicated and diverse user base that is more than capable of answering the overwhelming majority of related questions. Does it really need to be Jules saying, "press 'M' to automatically set in and out markers around a clip."?
5. Very normal operating practice for any company, large or small. Many other commercial sites only get updated when there's something new to say. The Mackie Website is huge. The universe doesn't revolve around KvR's Tracktioneers and their stake in the pending release of T2.
I mean... I like all of you guys a great deal, and have even become quite fond of Ron in spite of myself.
But sometimes you really need to give it a rest. Ron, you had the right idea in another thread, when you more or less said, "Bah, f**k it, I'm just going to pass off my crown and get down to using T1."
Imagine if we ALL did that, and stuck to it?
Then again... it makes for opportunities to interact with other Tracktioneers, at least.

True enough, true enough.
Flanneljammies: Yup! Since I use markers all the time, page up/down, and 'm' are important shortcuts for me. Since someone finally brought it to my attention that you can make additional non-in/out markers, my life has become significantly better. <laff>
Funny how there are still tonnes of features I never thought to look for. And in some cases, all it takes is perusing the shortcut key list, rather than trying to find the info in a manual!

Sorry, I didn't mean it to be so heavy. But if you mod an official Traction forum, paid or not, you do represent Traction to some degree.pHz wrote: ...modulr...

This is so reminiscent of Newtek and Lightwave 3D, it's almost scary.
As Lightwave 7 was nearing the end of its useful life cycle (3D software technology, like audio software, progresses quickly), people began to speculate about Lightwave 8, whether or not there would be a v8, what it would feature, etc. Much like T2 speculation before it was announced.
Newtek was busy developing it, but couldn't be bothered to announce as such to their paying customers (this is a $1500 app), just to say, "hey, it's coming". Newtek have a "Product Evangelist" that hangs out in the forums all day and posts help, markets the product, etc, and he NEVER would admit 8 was coming. But of course it was.
Then, it was announced officially, and they offered a pre-order, which many promptly accepted. Newtek did a similar thing to Mackie, they dropped a few features here and there, expanding the v8 feature list and website slowly. Okay, so they want to tease you.
The release was then delayed for months. During that time, they did NOTHING to inform their customers, may of whom pre-paid, of the status of their purchase.
Lightwave users, like Tracktion users, are a fiercely loyal group. Yet, by the time v8 was released, I had watched many fervent defenders of Lightwave give up and move on to other apps, primarily because Newtek inspired zero confidence in them regarding the product's future.
Delays are understandable. They happen in software development. What, at least to me, is not understandable is a lack of communication with a loyal user base. I have no plans to upgrade to T2, but I can see the anger, frustration and embitterment that is caused by the lack of a simple "hey, sorry, it's going to be a bit later than we thought, we're ironing a few things out". A statement like that would do wonders for this customer base. And noone defends T like its users. Mackie needs to recognize how loyal its user base is and capitalize on it, not alienate it.
