Poppers,
i thinks it's the respond who piss you off, it's the tone2 style, it's like that
some people complaint , in the tone2 forum, that Markus take all his customers for noobs" i don't remember exactly their sentence, their exact words", sometimes it's true,eg, i have find a bug or a big anomaly for a tone2 synth, Markus respond quickly and nicely, his really here for his customers, great thing, but he speaks with you like you are a noob, for my complaint, he can't find any solution, said to me that betatester never find this "anomaly", but i have send some reel proof about the problem, show it to him, he try to escape but finally agree with me, after some times, tone 2 delete my thread, it's not the only company who do that, and if they want, they can, no problem with that, finally i have sell this synth, (i have other tone2 products who works really great for me), but i will buy Icarus, because tone 2 make really great synth.
it's like their marketing,i don't like it but they have choose to be like that, why not:) if it's works, it's great for them, it's their bizness, they do how they want.
cheers.
one things, the master filter is for electra2?
for filter all the layers you can assign the same filter and mod it with the modwheel( i hope you don't think i take you for a noob:)))

I really do not know what you are up to with your rants. Icarus has a dual multimode filter that could be routed in serial or parallel. For both filters you got a switch which Oscs should use that one.poppers wrote:Tone2: "..but even if we wanted to integrate a master filter we don't have space to do it."
Even a more rediculous answer.
@Ingonator;
I know about the eq method but these are not up to par with a distinct Filter design. (it is a no go as a filter)
Imo a synth with this price tag should contain a master filter (with options). It's a basic but fundamental ingredient in any instrument.
This means you could e.g. use Filter 1 for Osc 1+2 and Filter 2 for Osc 3 when used in parallel mode or in serial mode you could add e.g. one of the EQ filter modes (with morphable shape) to add further filtering to e.g. one of the several Lowpass filter modes. When used in serial teh filter display shows the resulting shape of both filters and also modulations of the Cutoff and/or Reso are usually displayed in realtime. I had used such combinations of filters in a bunch of my own patches.
Additionally you got around 3 ways to add an EQ to the sound. All that makes the synth quite verstaile and powerful.
In Electra 2.1 in each layer you got a dual filter with parallel/serial routing too and you even got a routing knob for all 3 Oscs of each layer to route those to the 2 filters.
FWIW opposing to Electra 2.1 Icarus has no layers so do not really know the sense of a "master filter" in Icarus which is the synth which we do discuss in this thread. If you want to discuss this for other Tone2 synths please do that in a new thread.
Could you please tell me an example of an external plugin you would use as such a "master filter" in addition to the filters that are already included?

You name 5 who don't have a master filter (Tone2 synths excluded) ??

perhaps i have miss a dune 2 update.....
i think we don't speak about the same master filter, a lot of people want a dune2 master filter(see synapse forum)
i think i don't understand something....after that if you want a master filter, not for voices, the drop is a great buy !(with any material)

my big question about Icarus is about the worflow and feature, serum will be very hard to beat (serum have a lot of new feature during the update cycle) resampling, reverb, new filters, draw a shape in lfo for drag in the osc, drag&drop....browser,parser,unison, great source in the matrix...the side to side will be here for sure. i love the tone2 filters and effects, the battle will be great !

Icarus really has tons of features including 3 full featured Oscs, lots of advanced "morph modes" for the oscillators, a dual multmode filter with parallel/serial routing, lots of different Unison modes independent for each Osc (including Hypersaw, Stereo Hypersaw and Supersaw modes that work for ALL waveforms, not just Saw) and a full featured wavetable + waveform editor (including single cycle WAV files import).kokotte wrote:my big question about Icarus is about the worflow and feature, serum will be very hard to beat (serum have a lot of new feature during the update cycle) resampling, reverb, new filters, draw a shape in lfo for drag in the osc, drag&drop....browser,parser,unison, great source in the matrix...the side to side will be here for sure. i love the tone2 filters and effects, the battle will be great !

As i already mentioned Icarus should be shown at the Musikmesse at the Best Service booth (a long time distributor of Tone2 products). I will visit Musikmesse at Friday, 8th of April.

I had 2 support requests with Tone2 so far, in both cases, Markus replied in a nice, helpful, and reasonable manner, and not at all upnosed, or treating me like a noob. Sometimes I really have to wonder how user experiences can differ that much...

Maybe (just maybe, you understand) it could have something to do with the initial attitude of the user?chk071 wrote:I had 2 support requests with Tone2 so far, in both cases, Markus replied in a nice, helpful, and reasonable manner, and not at all upnosed, or treating me like a noob. If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Omnisphere has a master filter but just LP or HP.
It can be useful f.e. to bring down a low end a bit in a mix etc. but i would not miss it really.
It's a nice extra but nothing i would say is a must.
Better add more LFO's

If i am missing something..maybe, opinions can and must divers.
Opinions from beta users are not always neutral and must be taken with a grain of salt.
I love using Nemesis but for me it will' always have something missing.
End of discussion for me.

This thread is about the upcoming Icarus and not Nemesis. Icarus really offers more than enough options for sound shaping, including the dual multimode filter (both with tons of modes) and the dedicated EQ section.poppers wrote:If i am missing something..maybe, opinions can and must divers.

FWIW Nemesis has a different approach to synthesis and IMO works nicely as it is when programmed properly.Same is also true about e.g. Rayblaster which works a bit differently compared to most other synths but could deliver great results once you know how to use it properly.
