No hardware so far in 2022, unless you count new computers, yes plural. I didn't buy them for music though, so I don't think that they count. This is the year! This is the year that my audio gear purchases are negative and I sell much more than I buy.

  • Veils has more gain per channel (+20dB)
  • Quad VCA has +6dB gain on toggle switches
  • Quad VCA has separate bias and CV controls
  • Quad VCA has cascading normalled CV inputs
I was just wondering if Intellijel could sue but I’m guessing Behringer came to the same conclusion that Quad VCA was based on the open source Veils v1.

I think it’s a sign of what’s to come from Behringer. Basically the entire MI catalog will likely get reproduced with slight variations and additions.

I think this might end up a buyers market by the end of the year, so don’t wait!

I need to post my (unused) gear for sale too. I truly hate selling though.

I'm pretty sure the QVCA is based on Dave Dixon 2164 circuit. To add insult to injury, Intellijel's older 2164 based modules use parts made by Coolaudio. So they basically paid Music Tribe to rip them off.
I haven't bought one of their modules recently but I can imagine they've probably switched to the SSI2164 now.

Oooh a late delivery today.

x2 ERICA SYNTHS LINK

Ordered this on Saturday so I could feed my euro rack signals to my Yamaha 01v96i Digital mixer.
Gives me 10 outs to my mixer or 10 ins to my euro rack case

When you say 10 ins to Eurorack, do these also amplify a line level signal to Eurorack level?

I’m thinking of buying one these too but since they’re passive I’m looking for something similar to reamp to Eurorack levels.

Just reading the email back from the guy I buy my gear from on this hence why I bought it here's what his reply was.
Excellent - did a wee experiment and it turns out this module works in both directions:

https://www.signalsounds.com/erica-synt ... put-module

So it's meant to take a Modular level 3.5mm connection DOWN to Line level 1/4" Jack but....

it also takes a 1/4" Line level and bumps it up to Modular level with a 3.5mm output

In other words it works in both directions

So two of them are going to give you 10 channels in and out

Post

that's pretty cool! might grab one of those myself!

When you get them setup would you be able to check? It definitely should work both ways, but I don’t think should bump the signal up.

Trust me, I’d be very happy to be wrong… Strymon sells their AA.1 for more than twice the price and I already forgot the name of the Doepfer module Vurt and whyterabbyt have that provides more flexibility over the AA.1 and is also cheaper than the AA.1, but doesn’t have as many ins/outs as Link.

I guess I've been spoilt by using VCV Rack and modules like the Bogaudio LLFO, but are there skinny LFOs in real Eurorack that let you set a frequency, range, offset and various types of wave type all in a couple of HP?

Passive line level shifters can attenuate in one direction and boost in the other, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Erica link can do that too. Does it have transformers?

That bogaudio panel looks a bit far-fetched compared to real-world 2hp. It would be very difficult to use the lower two knobs. Erica pico VCO isn't far off, at 3hp.

I had their VCF1 on my list, no idea their VCO could go low to LFO speeds, but it doesn’t have that level of control. Yeah, I think in real world modules I may be better served by a digital utility to get that control.
