Man, Sonnox is so overpriced... also I can't imagine spending that much, and having to look at those butt ugly GUIs for hours on end... Am I the only one??? Surely not? Even at 50% off I think they're still a rip-off.

Regardless, serious question so I'm at least contributing something useful for those who might want to buy:

Are these still actively being updated or ...?

Regarding the Sonnox, I have the Powercore versions of 3 of their plugins and to crossgrade to native now that Poco development has stopped they want me to pay £165/$260. They also expect customer to pay for x64 updates.

Their plugins sound good but not for the prices they charge. Try the demos out if they have any and decide for yourself.

I've bought 3 plugins over this silly season of discounts... no regrets yet strangely enough!

I never thought I would buy another C/R plug, but Chromaphone is really the dogs rattlers. It sounds awesome without too many controls to bog me down. Simon Stockhausen's new patches for it on http://www.patchpool.de are amazing too.

Also picked me up Emphasizer by V-Plugs http://www.v-plugs.com/buy_vst_plugins.htm, which is another complex algorithm machine with simplified controls. It's a handy tool, similar to an EQ but seems to have some selective compression going on there too!? Just like their other plug Uranium (which to me is like a hybrid compressor/gate/transient shaper), it's a modern sounding sculpting tool...

The other plug is ArtsAcoustic CL Series compressor(s)... man that thing is TIeeet as a tiger. It feels very responsive to use and smacks like a MOFO... I think it's my favourite compressor already.

Happy shopping my fellow GAS sufferers.

Oh, and the Voice Of God by Universal Audio, but that goes without saying ;)

That's cool, there might be more info on the official rock band forum, their guitars are super prone to breaking within a few days. I do have a $10 set of xbox rock band drums(no frame, just pads and footpedal), and it works as a usb joystick converted to note on.

the midi implementation is not bad, there is a ribbon controller on the neck that controls modulation, and the button beside it turns it into a a pitch controller. there are octave up and down and program up and down buttons. for $25, I'll give it a shot.

I have two of those Rock Band keyboards and they are better than the guitars build-wise. The action is OK but obviously synth-y :) I have plugged it into Plugiator and rocked out with the Mini Moog emu for fun more than a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Post

cool, thanks for the info. I have a plugiator also, and I love it. I am thinking I will add two buttons by my thumb to change the octave. should be a simple mod.

Where can I buy Zebra 2 other than the developer's website? Or is that it?

Let's continue this here.

paterpeter wrote:Just as a reminder/warning: Superior Drummer is not downloadable. If you buy the "Download Serial Only" option you basically only get a serial number to register with ToonTrack. From their site you can only download an installer, but you need installation DVDs. So don't forget those (and the related cost for shipping/customs where applicable). For example, shipping to Germany costs about $100 according to Florida Music.

[gossip]Guess who realized this after having bought the crossgrade. But big kudos to ToonTrack. Their support helped me out of this situation quickly. It would be nice to have a downloadable version of SD, though. It should be around 20GB - I've downloaded products bigger than that (Kirk Hunter Diamond - 65GB!).[/gossip]
Hey Guys, hope this is not the case I have just e-mailed Julie at Florida Music and she has quoted me $13.75 shipping which I have paid by paypal...awaiting delivery..I have again e-mailed her to clarify that i will get all content via the shipping....Thanks Ade :?
If you get things shipped I think you'll be fine. As I said I contacted ToonTrack and they'll ship the discs to me directly. But this is an exception I guess, normally the dealer you buy from is responsible for delivering the discs.

Without this generous exception (and I can't stress how much I thank TT for this) the hybrid download/disc approach pretty much breaks the deal for us folks in Europe:

BTW: where do TT sit? From the whois of toontrack.de I'd say Sweden, right? I can't find an imprint on their site.

RE: FloridaMusicCo SD crossgrade deal... yes, it appears you do need the discs (since some people refuse to go from the main Bargains thread to here and just want to whinge about it and further pollute that thread as if we'd never discussed the same damn thing already and have the two threads for that very reason but I digress...

I paid around $10 shipping to the eastern part of the US and that's fine with me (except I have not received even a tracking number yet... I'm spoiled by Amazon Prime for shipping speed and communication) since it still puts the total WAY below what I'd pay anywhere else. However, it appears to be a complete dealbreaker for Europe and other parts of the world. Please do keep us posted here as it would be useful information since I believe this is a KILLER deal and hope it works for others.

Post

Maybe we should post the bargains here, as the other thread is full of gossip. :hihi:

Then you can use the "Bargain Center: discussion, gossip, etc." thread.
Information relevant to the deal belongs together with the original notice of the original deal. Makes no sense to split it out into two places, as many people would miss it. Think about it.
Thread title: Bargain Center (bargains only, please; use gossip thread for chat)

There's a reason for that.
(And sorry for not posting a deal)
lingyai wrote:Guess it depends on how you define chat. Relevance to the deal is a useful test.
But, accepting your logic, shouldn't you shouldn't your comment be in the gossip thread?
ThomasHelzle wrote:I have to agree with this. I was very happy to read about it here, otherwise I would have missed it. I understand why there is a separate thread, but stuff as this is very important to have here.

Cheers,

Tom
pikeyh wrote:Yes obviously if its applicable to the deal it would make sense to put it with the post.... Ade :)..and look what we are doing now chatting about it hehehe.

Post

That is why I came here to see what new deals there are :hihi:

On a serious note, one of the reasons the 'bargains only' thread is meant just for the deals is because some people subscribe to the thread and don't want to hear all the chat.
