Just been checking out Filterscape VA, and really like the sound. Not knowing too much about Zebra's sound (I'm on PC).....do they share some of the engine code (filters, osc, etc.). The reason I ask is that I'm considering buying Filterscape, but if Zebra is like VA, plus more, then I'd probably be better off waiting for Zebra. I realise that the EQ section is unique to Filterscape, its the general, base sound that I really like.
Also, is there a rough release date for it yet? (my apologies if this is an often asked question - I'm just starting to look at the *42* pages on this post....)
Edit: Ignore my last question. I just read through a few of the pages and got the picture. It does sound great though. There is a weird, scratchy sounding pad in one demo which sounds really good.

Yeah, I'm sure I know what you mean. This is naturally a Zebra specific thing, due to its various synthesis methods.gbles wrote:There is a weird, scratchy sounding pad in one demo which sounds really good.
I think that Filterscape and Zebra are really complementary. Sure, you can certainly get the basic oscillator sound of VA from Zebra, but everything else is absolutely different, starting from filter character to user interface concept. This is also reflected by the sonic character. I think that VA sounds more direct while Zebra has more like a deep sound (not necessarily blurry, rather like, uhm, more organic and more substance...?).

It's Friday, I'm in love.
Now seriously, I took a week off. And maybe another few days. Thus no news for today.
It was important for me to get my head free of stuff. Don't wanna become what we call "betriebsblind" (business blind?). Well, so I dated a grrrl. Almost forgot how lost one could get
Let's put it so: I've sounded a bit like Marvin for a few weeks, and now it's more like Zaphod
Next update soon,
Urs

Enjoy yourself - rest and relax, but above all don't forget that we're waiting for your next masterpiece

urs,
i've reached the point at work, where if i don't take my vacation i start to lose it. so my attitude has changed somewhat. one thing that means is i officially resign from zebra beta testing. i was getting too busy and didn't feel i was keeping up very well with any obligations. i'd rather send you some money when it's done than take advantage and waste your time now.
so yes, have some fun. and i've insisted all along tracking your progress is about as entertaining as software gets.
