I noticed the slew rate limiter module doesn't have much effect at all, dev should increase the drive multiplier into it.
Also, the parameters seem to modulate very slowly, like there's a filter that's tuned too low on the parameters.
Thank you for your comments camsr.

If you increased the drive into the slew limiter, it'd sound exactly the same as turning the DRIVE control down I'm afraid, as it's only affected by the slope of the signal, not it's level. Incidentally, it's arguable that the DRIVE control works in reverse!

If by "parameters seem to modulate very slowly", do you mean how they respond to knob movements? If so, I made that relatively slow as I don't like those plug-ins where the parameters seem to move in sort-of 'smoothed steps', as they don't sound natural to me. It's certainly something I can look at though, maybe by making the response variable?

This is just a quick note to announce the fact that the next version of ArcSyn (v1.5) will have two new GUI skins (in addition to the current one). It'll be possible to switch skins without closing ArcSyn and your preference will be saved globally.

It's currently about 95% finished and should be available within a few weeks, touch wood :-)

I'd love to take advantage of this, yet when I take a look at many of the presets, rarely do they use this setting on the first LFO...

Any smart people want to direct me to the wisdom here?
I'm not 100% sure I count as smart, but as the developer, I should be able to come up with some sort of answer here! Basically, if you're modulating something like filter cutoff or oscillator level, you'll probably want a fairly large setting. If you're modulating oscillator pitch, you'll probably want a much smaller setting unless you want a 10+ octave pitch sweep. (not that there' anything wrong with that!)

I didn't want to preset it to zero (because it wouldn't do anything) and 63 (50%) would still produce a huge 5+ octave pitch modulation range, so I set it to 127 (100%), which is good for most things *except* pitch modulation.

By the way, there are effectively *two* defaults, the one in the INIT (vanilla) program and the one you get by CTRL-clicking the GUI number control, which in this case is zero.

fluffy_little_something wrote:Strange, here there is a two-semitone jump from 5 to 6 semitones. Up until 5 the steps match those in Sylenth.
Seems the bug is only there when picking the semitone via the drop-down menu. Via the buttons it works as it should.
I've just checked that and you're absolutely correct - arrrgh! It's amazing that it's possible to miss such a simple bug. No one else has spotted it AFAIK, presumably because it's easier to use the +/- buttons. I'll fix it in the next update.

Thanks, Steven. It's true that I've been playing only with pitch modulation - so, ah-ha! I need to explore beyond the melodic allure that I'm drawn to. On my Mac, it's actually command click to get to zero, but that's a HUGE tip (probably found in the manual), so thanks.

Awesome. Any chance of the sustain pedal issue getting resolved?

"Bug v1.4. Press any note on keyboard and hold. Use sustain pedal. Release sustain pedal while still holding down note. The note releases on sustain pedal release despite still holding note on keyboard."

That's strange, because if a signal is amplified it's slope increases.

while you're tweaking the GUI side of things, can you look at offering smaller sizes ?
on 1366 x768, which is my max resolution (seems common amongst budget - mid-tier laptops), the bottom section of the gui is somewhat obscured by the windows task bar... it's not a show stopper, but it would be nice to see the whole thing without fiddling around with taskbar settings each time i want to use ArcSyn.

+1

There are so many different screen sizes at play nowadays, that it is a must that either a plug can be resized, or that there are two or three alternatives to set screen size of a plug (low, mid, high)

This is great news!

Will there be any teasers as it gets a bit closer to release?

Any info on size? I definitely do sympathize with Daags, as that would suck but being on 2K res, I'd be interested in a larger UI (although the current size is doable).
