I know one of the things I’m hoping to figure out is how much would I use it? I’ve always used the x/y pads of Zebra and Timeless 2, but I don’t really use the x/y pads of Live despite that they’re always available and not software specific.vurt wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 12:42 pm dunno about more useful, but a light up xy pad sounds like it would look cool
i have a joystick on my bug modular, i use it far less than i thought i would.
however, my bug has a lot less going on than even just my make noise skiff, so could probably be far more useful in euro format.

might be something worth keeping in one of your pods, as a standalone controller type thing you can use when you needelxsound wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 12:46 pmI know one of the things I’m hoping to figure out is how much would I use it? Planar is really nice for mixing different sources, and/or CV controlling filters/wavetables/etc. simultaneously. Very nice for drone stuff. I don't often use the record function though.
I had the LS-1 and it was OK, not super inspiring. I'm hoping Gliss is not just higher resolution but higher sensitivity too. Also the "keyboard" mode seems like it'll be fun.

These are good for CV recording. Obviously only one axis per knob, but some things fit those controls better than XY.

I have an XY dual pitch bend and mod control joystick on my Minilogue, but would far prefer those as separate controls.

what does the knob alter? depth or freq?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 2:10 pm These are good for CV recording. Obviously only one axis per knob, but some things fit those controls better than XY.

I like the keyboard mode too. If it works as advertised, I think this one will get some decent use.foosnark wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 1:53 pm Planar is really nice for mixing different sources, and/or CV controlling filters/wavetables/etc. simultaneously. Literally just a CV value knob so could be attenuated and/or offset by other modules, but I use it to plug into things like a filter’s cutoff input to manually record sweeping or bursting the cutoff so I can loop it (each of the 3 has its own playback mode to do one shot or infinite looping).vurt wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 2:33 pmwhat does the knob alter? depth or freq?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 2:10 pm These are good for CV recording. yeah i can imagine it's useful.
only thing i have similar is the "sampler" bit of marbles which is for cv.

Look like it can also be used to change speed, and/or CV offset, though...WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 5:35 pmLiterally just a CV value knob so could be attenuated and/or offset by other modules,

It's not exactly music hardware, but I bought an Akko 3084B wireless mechanical keyboard. But it sort of is music hardware, because it can switch between multiple devices and I'm going to use it not just with my PC but with Monome Teletype. (You can switch it live between multiple Bluetooth profiles, 2.4G wireless or a wired USB connection.) Also the compact size leaves plenty of room for music gear on my desk
(I currently have a Logitech K780, but I don't like the feel of it, the function keys are inconsistent, the layout isn't really ideal for me, but I've been living with it for years because there weren't many options for multiple-device keyboards. The letters are starting to wear off the keycaps
)
Also, bought a ticket for Knobcon in September
I haven't been since 2019.

I dusted off my KP3 recently. It's a great controller for modular, something I've been using since I first started with eurorack. I have a LaunchPad connected to my Vector sequencer and the KP3 sits nicely beside it. The KP3 does motion recording and most of the controls transmit CCs, so they can be converted into CV or gates.elxsound wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 12:46 pmI know one of the things I’m hoping to figure out is how much would I use it? I also have a Planar v2 and like it a lot. I mostly use that with my portable Serge/euro setup.

I’ve always wanted a KP3 but for space reasons, I’d likely go for a Planar v2. Still, could be a great excuse to finally get onejustin3am wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 5:04 pmI dusted off my KP3 recently. Their text on IG is as disingenuous as you would expect, they reference Buchla units, but then almost fully dupe the Maths inputs and outputs and call the module Abacus. ffs
