Minimal Audio wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 7:14 pm RTO unlimited will include all effects as standalone, and we’re continuing to refine the final model.

We want everyone to try the unlimited access ecosystem so perpetual purchases will also have access to it included for a healthy period of time.

Since I’m getting really really good feedback here I would love to post the final pricing options — but we do want to keep some element of surprises for the relaunch : )
Will the effects always be included within Current, or will they be paid upgrades ? If paid upgrades does it include them as standalone as well ?

If RTO includes all the standalone plugins that would make it much more enticing to go with, also how does it work with buying Current or the plugins when you reach the amount needed through RTO is it basically store credit or is there a voucher system or something ?

Well, keep us posted here or on your mailing list ;)

All effects included in Current as well as a few more post release, will be available inside Current regardless of license type.

And correct, we're building a voucher/store credit system to unlock perpetual products via the accrued store credit. It will be applicable to any products in the shop.

Minimal Audio wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 7:32 pm That is basically the plan — it was always the intention but we just got the thing basically v1 operable and put it up too early.

We’re almost done re-architecting everything I’m working 24/7 on it. We keep finding fun ways to improve the offering but it seems we’re almost there. When it’s ready ill be happy to share the final options here — then we’ll need to pull current off the website (the plug-in will still work fine) for a couple of days while we run all the system migrations.

At this point im basically viewing the botched launch as a public focus group on how to price this whole thing out
Hey, MA!

Im starting to view this whole thing for you/us as a positive: would you/us have been so open/interactive if it hadn’t started out the way that it did?

It’s a cliche, but true: for some things the only way to learn is the hard way. And in this case: you’re presently getting excellent interaction; imho superb advice.

The “after unlock” is not clear yet.
The doomsday scenario (hopefully never to occur) means MA is no longer in business and key word in “after unlock” is “AFTER”.
What about moving to another computer or whatever, there is no “after” but a new install without the possibility to unlock (MA gone…) based on the phrase “after”.

Yeah.. there's a lot I could say about all the things I've learned this week about being a business owner vs being a product person..

I'm not sure how the feedback process would have been without the firehose approach from everyone, but in the end we're happy because the new plans are going to be so much better and even more accessible. There are people on our team who were skeptical about doing subscription, who also now are all on board and love it, so it's actually improved our feeling about the product internally as well.

We also just grossly misunderstood how everyone was feeling, and completely underestimated everyones openness to new types of pricing models which are honestly quite complicated, but admittedly offer the same power of access as subscriptions, with the same level of ownership long term as perpetual.

It's been a massive wakeup call in a number of other ways as well, but I honestly don't think I could have ever come up with this all on my own. I know it seems obvious now, but it's a daunting thing to think about building without hundreds of people yelling at you. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the new norm, it makes a ton of sense.

so yeah tldr, there were a lot of reasons it happened this way. some technical limitations, some financial limitations, some experience limitations, but in the end we just want to make it work and keep building this into something huge.

Anyways I am going to get heads back down for the day so probably my last reply for a bit. Thanks everyone!

I think it's pretty atrocious other companies have abandoned their users like that. Hosting an auth system is about as simple as throwing up a Wordpress website, it's not an expensive thing to host or maintain. Compared to the other things we're doing, it's a nothing burger. Phew -- I can't even imagine the backlash of doing something like that.

I'd have to think about solution to the disaster scenario in question because obviously right now we have no intention of stopping anytime soon. -- but I imagine a full offline activation system would be what you guys are looking for as the answer here.

The best company imo for license transfer system is GForce. Log in, transfer to another GForce account's email, done deal. Maybe Melda's similar I haven't used it yet. I do have MSF for sale btw if anyone's interested, but I digress.

Is there a way of working with sounds from the stream as wavs, drag and drop into your daw for example?

I noticed on your site there's a stream section where it appears you can download and work with wavs, use credits (?) etc. How does that work, is it separate to the Current options?

I noticed there are only a handful of presets with the trial. Is that because there isnt a factory library as such, just the different preset packs from the stream?

Whoever is the person behind the feature list of this synth is a fantastic product designer. Feature and workflow wise, I don't know if I need any other synth ever.
