Exactly. That's why it would be nice to combine them the way you want, instead of just being able to change between static sets.Infinite5ths wrote:Actually, those are vital parts of the 'engine' (detuning laws being the possible exception). Perhaps some people think of these things as merely modifiers of "THE ENGINE SOUND". In reality, they do more to make 'the sound' of a specific subtractive synth than most other features/characteristics.chk071 wrote:When i saw that Hive has different engines, and i changed them, i wouldn't have thought in dreams that it would drastically change the filters, envelopes, and detuning laws. Well, enough ranted.

Bought it last night. That video by that sound designer was inspiring.
More of that would be great. I still don't know how the thing works.
One thorough tutorial video by a bright sound designer would be awesome.
I guess Urs wants to see how far people can take it intuitively, but some people need to grok the whole picture - see the overarching idea and how it all connects - before they can get into something.
I also found the gui became jittery when there are multiple instances of Hive in Ableton.

So, in essence, we are back to a user request that HIVE sound like every possible version of itself all rolled into one.chk071 wrote:Exactly. That's why I suggested 2 views, an "easy view" and an "expert view" where more parameters can be adjusted. That way both parties can be happy...

I wouldn't like changes that slow the completion of the final product. Such changes can be added to Hive 2 (which will probably come out before Sylenth 2
). Many simple changes can make a big difference without delaying completion, so those should be added.

"both parties" -- Urs must love how the only "parties" that count in this quote are the users. Never mind the 3RD PARTY (the developer) who has to do all the coding work and try to keep those OTHER parties happy.Tricky-Loops wrote:That's why I suggested 2 views, an "easy view" and an "expert view" where more parameters can be adjusted. Yeah, that's why i almost feel sh**ty with every feature suggestion i make here.
Nonetheless i feel like this would be a great benefit, or wasted potential on the contrary, that's why i thought i'd ask about it. E.g. i like the filter sound from the "Clean" engine, and it would be great to be able to combine that with the stuff from the other engines.

...hence the u-he tradition of building modular/semi-modular instruments. Here they decide to build something else, and half the user base can't see beyond their traditional design box.chk071 wrote:E.g. i like the filter sound from the "Clean" engine, and it would be great to be able to combine that with the stuff from the other engines.

That's like a battle between ultraconservatives and innovatists!
Always when someone makes a feature request, another one comes in just to say that he/she doesn't need this feature!
Urs should make a poll where people can choose which features they need and which not...

However the design evolves, I'm sure it will be great. It already is.

Urs seems have a good mix of vision and flexibility. Other software makers are often too stubborn.
Interestingly, it is often in regards to GUIs, e.g. Microsoft, Lennar Digital, Ableton. They make great software but are stubborn about their interfaces - as if computer nerds are automatically graphic artists with the talent to make an interface that fits the taste of everybody.

This is definitely a fun synth! The sound is pretty good quality, and great to play around with for hours upon hours, all and all a great creation and very easy to use and very straight forward not to mention the GUI that feels like something from an alien ship that landed here from the future. Fun, Fun, Fun!
Of all the features from this synth I love the best is the Arp/Sequencer.
Is there any way you guys at U-HE could add this arp/sequencer to Diva?????
But once again this synth is a great little gem!
Looking forward to the final edition.
