These layoffs are zero indication of any need of NI to be bought... BUT

A deep alliance with PreSonus would be a powerhouse. Very little overlap of products and could be extremely synergistic.
i hope not, i like my NI products and dont really want them associated with a company that charges almost 80£ just so i can edit stuff in my studio 1 built in sampler.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

not really much worth worrying about.
That's 7.5 times more coders than work at my office... which is a software company.

I don't think so!
They have already implemented Vibration Reduction in MX!

Seriously now, I really hope all will be fine with NI. At least till I sell my Maschine mikro and Komplete 12 :hihi:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I don't think NI is up for sale. If anyone buys them it'd have to be an Amazon or a Google - someone with big pockets. The CEO said on CDM that they are doing well financially. Revenue is up this year compared to last year. The lay offs were simply the result of restructuring. The way they were organised before was chaotic.
It'd have to be Amazon or Google or...Apple? I don't want Apple buying any more VI companies, we already see what they did with Alchemy!

I doubt NI is in trouble but then what the f**k would I know? You gotta read between the lines. The global economy is in quite a shitheap and it is no surprise to me that the smart ones are taking notice and doing what needs to be done (ie. firing a whole shit load of workers that are surplus to requirements). I doubt the bosses at NI are dumb. They have to be smart or else we wouldn't have them!

Let me guess...we get a wave of restructuring and a wave of companies cutting back or even changing entire business practices.

At this stage the only thing I am worried about is what happens between now and when (okay let's stay true to the seriousness of this thread and say IF) MODO GUITAR comes out. That's the last piece of VI software that I need to complete my rock band in a box.

In before this deliberately opaque "unified platform experience" talk just ends up being another subscription.

That is just the usual corporate speak BS...

A lot of impressive words that add up to a whole lot of nothing...

The important thing is to dismiss the semantics, break it all down to the basics and to read between the lines
No auto tune...

Guess this means no meaningful updates to key products while they figure out how to shove sounds.com and metapop down the throats of an uncooperative customer base.

I mean just look at this crap on the front page of the metapop site. Are we in 2019 or the far future of science fiction?

Groundbreaking! I can do all this on computer OR phone?!

Of course. And the last couple of paragraphs tell the tale.

Specifically "For that, a new platform is currently being developed with the goal of offering new ways of accessing the company's core products and services, as well as complementary ones from third-parties. The centralized platform will also include the company's expanded portfolio of loops and samples, which is currently part of sounds.com, and will launch in 2020. "

and

"We are confident that we can offer music producers worldwide a unique and premium experience by connecting our existing ecosystem of award-winning software and hardware to a centralized online service"

That doesn't sound like FM9, Pro54, Absynth6, or Massive2 to me. That sounds like more sample shovelware and online connected portals.. perhaps subscription gobbledygook.

This is not the Native Instruments of old. The one that brought them to where they are today as a 'giant' of the industry. This is a post modern Native Instruments without the actual NATIVE instruments. They took a page from Waves and started making tons of minor synths and effects that do less each. So they can either make more money off of people buying multiple or direct them to buy a Komplete package. Not much about innovating than just keeping profitable by broadly offering the least for the most. It is a shell of itself.

So subscription service with tiers and third party single and bundle products that can be added on for additional costs per month. Welcome to "Universe", the all encompassing one stop music wonderland from Native Instruments.

Probably. As long as they keep giving me updates and fixes for stuff I've got as part of K12 I couldn't care less.

We read the news release about the layoffs and your vision. Marketing can only stretch value so far before it snaps, and the poor economy means people demand more value for their money. You took a strategy that assumes money grows on trees for your customers. KvR is the raw heart of your customer base, we speak for many more.

Thanks for the memories Native Instruments. We wish you well.
