No it's barely worth $19. One of the most disappointing purchases I've made in a long time and I paid about $19 for it........ :?

I suppose at FREE it's worth the download if you've already got iLok...........

Worth it for the Roland D50 sounds.
Not that many D50 emulations around.

Huge disappointment for me..........nothing like a D-50. :?

There's a reason why an instrument listed at $199 has been routinely sold for $20 and now is being given away.

But like I said if you've already got the iLok manager installed and Digital Synsations is free....why not.

Then go have a look at Pink Noise DeepFlight. Maybe you 'll like that better ;)
And it's almost half price now.

+1... it's not even close.
It's always easy to tell which ones are the best D50 emulations.
They get a "cease and desist" letter from Roland right before it disappears.

Haven't dloaded yet (it's 9gb) and not to preempt my own disappointment but... Is the disappointment that it's a bad emulation of the 4 synths, or some other issue?

It´s not necessary to have an ilok, I have installed Synsations yesterday and I am using it with the program iLok License Manager.
Cheers.

I tend to agree. Got it free with something else and found it completely uninspiring when testing. It's a huge waste of HDD space for what you get. Better to invest into Korg Legacy, FM8 and DSF Ensoniq libraries than get this.

If it's free, I guess, one might grab it just in case but you have to install PACE iLok cr@p to use it.

I actually thought Digital Synsations was really good.

I found that the reverb effect on their player is super dirty and staticky sounding. I stopped using it shortly after that.

I guess it's cool that it was free...

I think Digital Synsations is a great collection.

But it needs to be seen as sample library, and not an accurate emulation

Digital Synsations includes over 500 patches expertly programmed on a fully restored Yamaha SY77, Korg M1, Roland D50 and Ensoniq VFX. We deeply multi-sampled these custom patches using top-shelf equipment and edited them to perfection before sending them off for professional mastering.

So users can tweak those samples UVI made. But to be able to build patches like on the real instrument like an Emulation aims at, is not really possible.

K Numanoid thnx thats what i was hoping/thinking, i dont give a shit about close emulation (apart from the quality /goodness of the original) I'm not making pastiche or period authentic soundtrack

I've always wanted a D-50 and an SY77 so I thought this would be a chance to at least get close to owning those two. I own an Ensoniq VFX so I though it would be a chance to own it in software and maybe replace and sell it........But all three "emulations" are so incomplete that it was a huge disappointment. It's basically some choir, strings, bells, synth pads library that lacks the transwave patches of the VFX and the motion based patches of the D-50. They're not bad sounds just nothing special and like I said are not really full emulations of the real hardware. That's why it's listed at $199 and now free........

If it required a hardware Dongle I wouldn't have purchased it............

Your quote says it all.........those "custom patches" did not take advantage of the original hardware's capabilities. I can say as an owner of a VFX those "custom patches" just don't cut it......

Let me put it this way......even though I now have the ilok manager installed on my studio computer for Loom, Hybrid, and Vacuum Pro I have never bothered to install Digital Synsations on it.......not worth the effort.

But I'll say it again if someone already has the Ilok Manager installed, Digital Synsations is free, and they have a spare 9 gigs of hard drive space...........why not.
