This really shows the weakness of the installed CPU. I mean, 25% load for ONE voice? I get 8 voices with 8-10% load on my dualcore... This is too bad, too bad. CPU upgrade must nail this really good, these numbers are way too high...

...o.k., if you tweak the sounds a little bit, you may gain more voices, of course. It depends on how (or if...) you use the effects, how many oscillators, filters and so on....for me, it's quite nice - and I can start a little bit serious work now....

Hey Schoko, how did you get Albino full version to work? I've got it to be recognised by the V machine but there is no sound. All banks and are loaded and can be switched, and it appears it's receiving midi.schoko wrote:Hi,
Albino3 FULL version is working now!A little bit too heavy for the v-machine cpu (1 voice = 25%), but for Solo-Sounds, this is no real issue for me.

Anybody else have an idea why no sound is coming out?

The key is to have the right SYS-GLO String: Don't take the one from the Demo-Version. Once you have bought Albino3 and installed it, you will find your own SYS-Glo-String containing your own Ser.No by searching the registry with the keyword "Albino".
Copy it to the location in the wizard file where I wrote: put your own SysGlo string here!
AND: Depending on the structure (VST-Folder?) on your own harddisk, change the "dirs_to_copy" paths to the correct destination-path on your PC.
Don't save presets in VFX, just try on the machine via PlugInParade.

BTW did you see the post about the transpose function being in the actual Preset info file (.VFX) which you can edit?

Even if it just was a great VOCODER it is worth the moneyDragonSagoth wrote:Unless you use cracked versions, which most of people here won't do, I guess.schoko wrote:...for me the sad thing is, that NI stuff and Tassman are still not....

Obviously I am biased.. but still, more and more is happening now. Always would be good to have more CPU, no one disagrees.
HERE IS A GREAT VOCODER
Download this vocoder that I have running on the vmachine.

To enable the audio input to the plugin click on the 'L' and the 'R' above the pan control in the VFX application. They should both light up, then save the bank/preset and put this onto the vmachine.

But if you have a parameter with a fixed list of values (e.g. a filter where you can choose the filter type, kind of LPF24A, LPF24B, LPF12A, ...) with more than 16 parameters, only 16 will be shown.
I'm scaling my 0 ~ 1 float values to traditional 0 ~ 127 integer numbers, but still only 16 steps are possible.
I think this fix should be done along with the "press and hold for faster scrolling" feature, which is still missing.

FM8?!? That's good news! Registration of my FM8 requires the Flash plugin. I was going to use my FM7, has a simpler registration method.DragonSagoth wrote:BTW, B4-II and FM8 are reported working in full versions, so...

Just ONE plugin in such a portable format is already quite a dream. But of course, a modern polyphonic piano plugin is a must in this day and age. Nearly all hardware modules showed off their abilities by highlighting at least one superior grand piano sound.VFXAU wrote: Even if it just was a great VOCODER it is worth the money :-) ...

Wonder why muse hasn't thought of making something like this? :)
I guess the rack version needs a raison d'etre.

The CPU load people are experiencing does strike me as high. My studio PC is a single-core 3GHz, and I can have quite a lot running simultaneously before it starts to stutter.
What I would like to know is, is it known yet WHY some plugins are producing a high CPU load? Do they just need more memory? Or is there an identifiable technical reason? Kinda affects my buy-now or wait-and-see decision.
I shall be using it mostly to run theatre sound effects, some of which could be really long sound files. For live use, I have so far always used a 1.8GHz, 1GB single-core WinXP laptop with no problems. If memory is an issue on V-Machine, I'd like to know before ordering.
I expect V-Machine to host sfz.exe, but I'll probably move up to it's bigger brother, Cakewalk Dimension Pro.

>>>I tested this with mtron pro and found the plugin crashes when multiple chunk files are loaded. If you delete the chunk files from the bank folder then you can open the bank without crashes. Since this does not happen with other plugins that I have tested it appears you will need to report this to mtron pro support and ask them to look for a bug in their plugin which is causing it to crash when multiple chunk files are sent to the plugin.[/quote]
Please forgive my dumb question - but what are Chunk-Files exactly?

Thank you for the info. My vfxinfo was correct and I've owned the full version since it was released. I even overwrote my full version with the demo to see if I could get any sound out of it. No go. So I have no idea. However I was successfull in getting it to work by using my wife's desktop by installing Albino and the vfx program on hers and then to USB stick.schoko wrote:with a little help from another member from the forum (thanks btw!), I've got this one here to work:j45 wrote:Hey Schoko, how did you get Albino full version to work?

A chunk file is like a screenshot of the positions of all controls and settings inside a plugin. It is one way of making sure that when you save a song in a program like cubase that all the plugin parameters are remembered when you re open the song.Nitrofunk wrote: Please forgive my dumb question - but what are Chunk-Files exactly?

If you look in the 'banks' folder you will notice each plugin will have a xxxxxxxxxx.chunk where the plugins settings are stored so it can open the plugin exactly (in theory) as it was saved in the preset inside the vfx application.
Of course not all plugins support chunks and some may have issues with being sent a chunk, for example some demo/trial plugins have the feature disabled and will crash if you send a chunk to the plugin.
Most plugins support chunk and work without issues. Also the chunk data is created by the plugin so depending on which plugins chunk you open it may be readable in wordpad or it may be a mess of random characters.

Albino3Banks
Microtuning

It will still copy these folders as they are located next to the DLL file, this is why the starting '/' is left off. Having written it this way it should work for more people in different countries. This is how it is written in the demo wizard available on the smproaudio website.
Albino3Banks ..... means next to the DLL which you give this location when your importing the dll into the vfx application.
/Albino3Banks ..... means it is a full path location from C: ie c:\Albino3Banks\

+1 for more steps. Fine tuning of an instrument is too course if you want for instance 442 Hz instead of 440 but the parameter setting is too granular, you'll always be out of tune. Hopefully with the faster scrolling, with small steps if you're 'single press'ing and bigger steps if you hold it down.ZioKiller wrote:Example: plygin XYZ, parameter VOLUME, should range from 0 to 1 (it's a 32 bit floating point, so I understand that doing 4294967296 clicks isn't comfortable... so you thought to limit it to 16 steps, so values will beVFXAU wrote:Hi,ZioKiller wrote:Hi Danny,

That's why the CPU upgrade SHOULD be fast enough to give Pianoteq 2 (and the newer ones that will eventually come) at least 64 notes of polyphony. 2 GHz dualcore secures that firmly in place.JazzSinger wrote:Just ONE plugin in such a portable format is already quite a dream. Memory is not an issue, it's more about the number of calculations needed to "draw" an oscillator, or to model a filter, or to model an FX, etc. If it's a high-quality algorithm, you have a good sound with less CPU load, but unfortunately not all plugins are written to comply to this.
You can upgrade RAM to 1 GB on the V-Machine (although I'm firmly pro to the idea of a motherboard firmware upgrade that would allow 2 GB modules), so it shouldn't be much of a problem, except if you like loading a lot of samples.
sfz is working, IIRC.
