ha yes, maybe you are right, it was not a jokediverdee wrote:I interpret that as the guy saying he likes striptool V1, was interested in the others, doesn't like dongles & will therefore stick with V1 - no trolling, no badmouthing, joking or anything.

Yeah, I got the same impression from this thread... but the market has evolved quite a bit, no? I see quite a bit of developers staying in business and making a living if their product is good, their price is fair, and customers are treated respectfully... of course they are warezed, but so is mostly everything. Voxengo, Kjaerhus, Wusik come instantly to mind.diverdee wrote:I am under the impression that VB (a small, independent fairly early plug in developer) was seriously stung by warez.
That's sad.
Most of them are not professional or are in startup progress. when they will have to make money to pay the bills, they will desappear in less than 2 years. Like many others i've seen in this last decade. For software (not plug-in) it's a little bit different, but for plug-in there is no many way. Look on the major company, most of them give up the native plug-in to make hardware additionnal board or external unit...silicon/silicium wrote:are you joking??
a lot of plug in developpers don't use dongles, even some of the big boys (I especially think to cakewalk) don't force their customers to have their usb hub full of dongle. and most dongled software just have some weeks before being cracked.
look at the developper list here, you ll see most of them don't use dongles...

Don't really see how you can infer all that from this thread, but fair enough... I wasn't referring to the mass market (which imho is not the market for an audio plugin developer anyway), I just think that there are more audio plugin users actually paying for the software they use now, particularly amateurs, enthusiasts, prosumers, whatever you want to call them. There are also more developers and thus more competition, but at least the best of them seem to do fine.Vincent Burel wrote:Juanjo wrote:Yeah, I got the same impression from this thread... but the market has evolved quite a bit, no?
No, the market has not evolved for independent third part, it's the opposite. As far as i see in this discussion, mass market customers didn't changed too. They are still thinking that Warez help to promote and sell more... And they are still thinking that crack can bring the same benefit to big company than to small company.
Understood, no prob.Vincent Burel wrote: Well, i lost enough time here, Thanks everybody
