I was listening to the demos, and they really impressed me, specially, since you are telling that mainly you use only one oscillator. The oldskool demo reminded me very much of TD in the period Froese-Franke-Schmoelling - great demo.
I then listened to your space music. Very good stuff. Seems like you are as good as a composer as you are as a sound designer.
Look forward to check your sound bank

Thanks for the comments about the music itself. Making those small pieces of music is very important to me since it shows Zebra is not merely a synth you use for blips and blops but is quite capable of covering an entire piece of music in all its aspects.
In the start of the project i didnt pay much attention to the build in reverb but later on i started to think modular with the reverb like adding a EQ on the reverb input makes a huge difference. Anyway, you will spot this method in many of the pad+string patches. A good example is the orchestral like string (Breeze String) made of 1 FMO oscillator, if you took away the FX (reverb/delay/eq) then the patch would just sound like a dull Phase Modulation detuned saw thing.
Anyways, i'm looking forward to this release which have been quite an eye-opener for me

Yes - using reverb in ways like this is one of my little techniques I use a lot - for instance, rather than feeding an oscillator into a filter, I might feed the oscillator into a reverb with small time settings to thicken it up, and then into a filter. Same with delays as well - basically injecting wet sounds earlier on into the patch, rather than just wetting them up at the end of the chain for ambience.mkastrup wrote:In the start of the project i didnt pay much attention to the build in reverb but later on i started to think modular with the reverb like adding a EQ on the reverb input makes a huge difference.
You can get some great textures this way that have a different quality to just using "dry" oscillators, especially if you are adding motion (wavetable sweeps etc) to run the the wet effects.
Fun stuff!

If that snippet made you think Tangerine Dream then i couldnt be more happy cause thats the spirit/mood i was trying to recreate.spritex wrote:That Oldskool Sequencing sounds 1/1 like Tangerine Dream.
Some really fine patches in the snippets.

When I heard it a couple of weeks ago, I immediately thought TD, Michael you've very nicely captured the spirit of the analog epics' era. There's nothing that'll get people to buy patches faster than demonstrating them through some of their favourite genres.mkastrup wrote:If that snippet made you think Tangerine Dream then i couldnt be more happy cause thats the spirit/mood i was trying to recreate.spritex wrote:That Oldskool Sequencing sounds 1/1 like Tangerine Dream.

Hi GuckyGucky wrote:Hi mkastrup,
I am a big fan of your EVOL synth. Is there the chance for more presets for EVOL or a new synth from you?
Glad you like EVOL
I have some synth which i made since then but they are only used inhouse for sampling projects.
Anyway, i might get some time to look at EVOL again for some presets but when-where-how i cant tell cause i'm pretty busy atm. I know its popular in some places cause i stopped counting after 30.000 downloads and still get 400-500 downloads a month.
