I programmed my own patch on the Pro-53 to achieve this sound. Heres what I came up with http://www.sendspace.com/file/2la7lj

It's not just the patch that makes it sound good... It's the opening of the filters and the proper routing of fx. But if you do want this patch pm me for now.
It's also the chords you play... these are not single notes.

Can I ask where you got your drums? They sound fantastic.jtxx000 wrote:Here's my attempt: http://annoware.com/temp/ThatDeadmau5Sound.mp3
The thing about this type of sound is that in many ways the effects matter more than the synth itself.
Here's the synth by itself with no processing: http://annoware.com/temp/SoloSynth.mp3
Not very interesting, eh?

''2-4-2(.52%, 0%, .52%) synced filter delay''
what is this??? is it just a filter with a delay after it?
Yeah, I'm guessing a 2-step delay on the left channel with 52% feedback, 4-step delay in the middle with no feedback and another 2-step delay on the right channel, again with 52% feedback.
But thats just a guess...

The samples came from VIP Zone: http://www.vipzone-samples.com/freesamples.php I usually make my own samples or do some heavily processing, but if I remember correctly, these are mostly dry.zircon wrote:Can I ask where you got your drums? Now where did you get your drums from for System?

Here's the effects chain that I used after it:
Here are the chords:
The synth sound itself is just layered detuned saws with an analogue sounding filter. The filter cutoff envelope and the main amplitude envelope both have zero attacks, relatively short decays, medium sustains, and moderate releases. You don't want the release time to be too short or it won't turn into the pad type sound when you open the filter up. I also added a little bit of Zebra's chorus.
For the effects, I have an EQ to boost the highs slightly to add some sparkle, a compressor to add some bite, a ping pong delay, a reverb, and a compressor side-chained to the kick. The side chain compressor is essential to make it duck and suck after every kick. Make sure that the release is long enough so that it pumps properly with the rest of the track.

thx... I use V-Station->Retro5 and just play with cut off filter, decay and distortion and put on master and kick high compressor (limiter)
