Where's the emoticon for putting your palm against your mouth and blowing into it?Compyfox wrote: NONSENSE!
I choose to go for an USB Key system due to of several reasons:
1) Stuff can't be simply cracked (at least Synchrosoft). This makes your stuff unique, not everyone uses what you use
2) demos are UNCRIPLED, though limited to 30days and one time only (chances are you change your mind in half a year, then you're stuck since you can't demo anymore)
3) I don't need C/R systems (aka no internet), I don't need to reset these codes at the developer, I don't need to store license keys. If my rig crashes and all my data is lost, I also lost my licenses.
4) with USB keys I only install my software, plug in the stick and off I go. If I want to go over to another studio and we want to work "together" on a project, I take my key with me and the software works. No C/R problems
Agreed, it'd be troublesome for laptop users, but I'm a studio person, I do not travel that much. I also prefer just keyfiles or license codes (which I store triple times now just in case), but with firms like IKM where you have C/R and have to ask for new codes every time you reinstall, this system is just timeconsuming and I feel like a criminal if I have to re-ask for resetting my licenses to further use my tools.
I'm fine with either way:
- License key
- Synchrosoft / iLok
To me it's not an issue to buy it or not. If something doesn't interest me, I simply don't buy it. If it's interesting me and I don't have the funds, I don't buy it. It's that simple.
EDIT:
GEE YES! And I thought this was a new thread. A mod care to change the topic with the info "thread from <date> - rebumped"? Thanks

don't think i can count the number of plugins I have not bought due to the dongle. Oddly I am not pining for any of them either. Lots of great paid, dongle free plugins out there.

Strange, with me it's the opposite. I'll buy a Syncrosoft protected program in a heartbeat while I think twice about challenge/response software!Tallisman wrote:don't think i can count the number of plugins I have not bought due to the dongle. Oh damn, didn't see that, sorry for bringing this up again!!Teksonik wrote:Is there a good reason why you bumped a thread that died 16 months ago? And yes I know I just bumped it too...........Reflected wrote:51 who voted yes are probably:
other copanies that use this protection
or
companies that have similar products and know that after linplug will go dongles, they will easy steal lineplug's customers...
because if there is a similar product without annoying dongle and it cost less, the potential buyer won't need to think twice...
PS : to Teksonik, I voted yes, but I'm not a company.
