wtf are you on about? are you saying Linplug are moving to dongles, or trying to pursuade them to?

Are they moving to dongles? I assumed I missed some announcement..

I don't think that they are moving to Dongles, but that they will use the Syncrosoft eLicense instead which doesn't require any Dongle.

i recently reinstalled my system and i wish all my plugins had syncrosoft-protection...
plug in the dongle and there you go.
finding and typing in all those serials took me at least 2 hours :(

I voted yes! Why?

A. Peter said it would not be dongle only.

B. People need to make money for their work.

Its too easy to judge the devs, and say.... " you are punishing the user with copy protect, etc., etc., etc... " but the truth is, its all the damn robbery that goes on..

I don't want to type a thousand words on this crap...

but really, give it up people. what if I came to your house and stole your 1 year of work. would you call the cops?

arrg.....

I have a laptop. No dongle? :-) FINE!!!!! ilok? service center? syncro whatever? key pad thingy?
:tu:

cheers

I miss the option "yes, if it's movable to the USB key", which should be, according to the new Synchrosoft drivers (except for the Steinberg Products").

I'd prefer a no, and I'd vote for one if it's not movable - so no vote from me for the time being.

On the other hand... what good does that thread bring? I guess it was fairly clear that the Linplug crew said, that the copyprotection will be pulled through one way or another. So this won't change that much, will it? Other than getting feedback from the users of course.

I don't see the need to vote. Many opinions were stated in the other thread, almost all were negative, only a couple who said it's not good but no big problem either, but the desision is for Peter to make.

I have dozens of plugins.....I have no desire for a "Christmas Tree" of Dongles.

Really I'm afraid the question comes too late. It appears Linplug has purchased the Syncrosoft protection and the installation code has already been implemented. I understand their decision and I hope they understand my decision not to purchase a Syncrosoft product.

Something is clear:
Sales won't be greater than now, warez is similar to Laffer's tax curve.
Another drum machine? When a revolutionary VSTi like Xphraze was abandoned in a desert island?
Lower the prices and sales will explode.

True. I also think they will use this product to try and judge whether the lower piracy levels increase the sales, or whether the copy protection puts enough people off that they have lower sales figures (obviously they can't know what sales they would have got, but I guess they will have expectations). If it proves to be the latter, then I guess they will reassess the situation...

i legally own 50+ commercial plugs (more than i really need, i know  ).

but not one uses a dongle or synchrosoft.

i vote with my wallet.

i respect any decision a developer makes regarding this, but it automatically removes them from my potential buy list.

going further, i have frequently purchased from smaller developers as much to support them as to satisfy my needs and (admitted) gear lust.

fwiw.
