How confident are you that NI was the "culprit" for pulling the stories. I copied the announcement to the Cubase 4 forum as soon as it appeared here, and it was pulled from there by Steinberg and from here within 45 minutes.

In my books I'd call that the more enlightened approach.
in my book, i'd call that the '100,000 less forum members' approach.
Sorry, I was really only talking about the censoring of the EM scan here at KVR (storm in a teacup, I know).

And, you're probably right, there does seem to be a lot of noise on Ableton's forum. I occasionally have a look over there, but don't participate.

Slightly more than 33.3%

It was just an educated guess rather than a deduction.

i posted stuff about cubase 5 twice at cubase.net and one was pulled within a minute - literally - so......
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

You sound almost proud about it! :-o Did no-one tell you that spoiling Steinberg's (or NI's) big reveal is pretty much on a par with shooting puppies in front of children! :hihi:

Brings to mind that scene in Bad Santa where several cops empty their revolvers into the fleeing Santa (Billy-Bob Thornton) in front of several children who all scream at the sheer horror of seeing Santa pumped full of hot lead on Christmas eve.

You can doubt me ALL you want. But there's no kool-aid. There's just reality. That IS what NAMM is for. Yes, I'm going. But that has nothing to do with it. Heck, I have information on new releases as of yesterday that are not allowed to be shown(a LOT of press releases). It's just an agreement and a respect for the wishes of the developers.

It's not that I'm getting too much into it myself. But just the fact that you are accusing me of that means you really are only looking at it from an end-user viewpoint. But once again, that's not what NAMM is about. Otherwise, they would let the public in.

I don't mean to sound arrogant. I could care less if you respect me because of all this. But I can almost guarantee that what I said is the reason for pulling the "leaked" info. Whether you believe me or not doesn't matter, and I'm sorry that it somehow gives you the impression that I can't think for myself intelligently.

Regardless, the show starts in around an hour and a half, and everyone will start to hear official announcements and closed lips can be opened. It'll be a fun day!

By the same logic, would you say that Bush's last press conference was FOR the whitehouse press corps? Or do you think that despite only them and the secret service being in attendance it was aimed at the broader public?

Anyway, forget all of this and enjoy the show. POMFs

I didn't see the press conference, but that's not anywhere close to the same thing. If that wasn't for the public, it wouldn't be on national TV. NAMM doesn't directly advertise it's stuff to the public, but the press who is there announces the info. And even then, they have to wait on many announcements(not ALL announcements).

I will say this that there is at least one revolutionary application coming, a reverb. The MIR reverb from VSL. It's being shown today.

There, my first NAMM "breaking" news, haha! Got the info last night. So I'm pretty excited about that.

I sure hope so. I'm going to be hungry with no car(wife and friend are taking it). I'll eat pie if that's all they have.

Hmm I think your trapped in the past to some degree. NAMM has become like Harland Williams character's big announcement for a new product in "There's Something About Mary"...
7....MINUTE....ABS!!!

2009 discussion:
"I'm really pissed NI didn't announce 4 minute abs at NAMM this year but I guess 5, 5.5 and 5.6 minute abs will hold me over until 4 minute abs comes out. The new 4.9 minute abs from Access looks quite interesting although $1500 is alot of money to shave milliseconds off your ab workout."

wow!!Spectrasonics just announced 5.1 minute abs!!
