I did a rough summary when this thread had about three pages and "honeysuckle" was way upfront back then. I think some others (fallout, universal jungle) caught up quite well since then though. From my feeling I'd say, there are at least 4 patches that have considerable more than 10 points and none that goes over 20.

But, as I have some free time due to the bad weather here, I will do the math now:-)

I think v-univ. wins by some distance, no?

The fish/chips vote is closer.

Sorry, had some school stuff explode last night ( and in a fairly frustrating way - every 'lab' machine had different versions of some open source libraries, that was NOT obvious, which is especially not good for projects that involve a lot of hand-waving code given to us to work off of :x ), contest results up in 3 hours or so.

I guess it's not a problem to post the count as everybody can do it for themselves so no hidden information here.
Please keep in mind that I might have miscounted and there might be not valid votes or other reasons to change the count that only the organizers may know.

Official results in ~ 3 hours anyway, which is great:-)

Well done whoever's responsible for v_univ. - good use of MW and PB modulation! 8)

And I may as well own up now - Honeysuckle and Pianog were mine.

Post

Jeez, you two are really determined to push the thread along eh ??
I'll save my commentary until after official announcements

No harm done by keeping the conversation up, is there?

What about your lost comment about entry / judging criteria:

Still up to rewrite it?

Thanks:-)

I bow to you for Honeysuckle.
Very smooth and supposedly useful in many contexts. It made second place in my personal voting:-)

As for Pianog: I don't see an application for it as it has quite a competition with all those sampled pianos. I find it interesting as a case study though. Wouldn't have expected a sound so close to a piano out of ACE. Will have to check out at some point what you did there.

Best,

V

Well, yes, but you are choosing your own criteria there (and you are perfectly entitled to do so) - but, as I per my earlier post, I don't see that a patch need necessarily have an obvious application or utility to be a good patch.

That said, though to my mind it's as good a patch as Honeysuckle, I wasn't at all surprised that it didn't do well - in fact, I predicted as much when I submitted it to xhr3v.

That's what I meant to say. It's a good patch, from patchers point of view.
From musicians point of view, I find Honeysuckle inspiring while with Pianog I wouldn't know what to do with.

Btw, I just realized that when setting the quality to draft, Pianog turns into a cool "Prepared Pianog":-)
This way I actually have use for it. I guess some more of those patches might have some hidden features to be explored;-)

Best,

V

Thanks for sharing that one!
+1
I love the headcopter suite too. One of the patches that is most fun playing with. I decided against voting for it but it was a tough decision. In the end I chose patches with more complex routing but I do totally respect the art of creating an amazing sound with a minimum use of spaghetti.

Great job whoever has done it:-)
Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun making that patch. It started off as a pretty typical saw/square bass patch, but then I started adding a few detuned modulators, and the whole thing came together at once.

Fallout was done in the complete opposite manner. I started the patch by making the weird creaking sound, and trying to experiment as much as possible with it. Once I added the plain ol' boring note on top of it, I realized that the patch was finished.

I can't wait for the next contest! I had a lot of fun.
