Like a tune of 12.00 is wanted, but all I can get is 11.98 or such.
I double clicked on the knob but it doesn't work.
No midi learn on either.
Weird. Working fine here (reaper x64/ Win 7 x64). I tested setting zero, fine tuning with shift, coarse tuning, double clicking, and midi learn.

Maybe it only happens on the mac?

Yea. I'm using Live8.2.2 on a macbook pro, with 10.6.7.
I just dl'ed the latest 2.5.1 Zebra, so I'll try it by first uninstalling the older versions of Zebra first.
I just installed over the older versions. Maybe that'll make a difference.
edit: Did a clean install with the latest 2.5.1 Zebra.
Problem still exists.
I can hold down shift, and make it work in small increments, but double click on the knob does not reset to work as normal, and midi un-learn does not fix the problem.
I'll try updating my os to 10.6.8 and check it in GB as well.
The tune knob moves in decimal increments, the same as XY controls.
I can get -12.07, but never -12.00, unless I use the hold shift thing.

EDIT2-
The VST version does not have this problem.
The problem (tune knob will not set to normal values) also happens in Garageband5 as well as Live8.2.2
A bug was found in Live, from this as well.
If I use the VST, then close the project file, and try to load the AU version.
The AU GUI will not open.
It will only open again if I quit out of Live.
I will do an osx update right now, and see if it helps.
From 10.6.7 to 6.8

Okay, I updated mac os to 10.6.8 and the above problems still happen.
1. The AU version of Zebra 2.5.1 is not compatible with the latest Wacom drivers for Mac osx, using either Live 8.2.2 or Garageband5.
The knobs (all knobs) do not move in normal increments.
Only when using a wacom tablet.
This problem does not happen when using a mouse.
No problems when using the VST version.

2.If I use the AU, then close the project in Live, then Open, and use the Zebar VST, then close the project, and open a new one, then load the AU. The GUI will not open (but there is audio).
This happens whether or not a mouse or wacom tablet is used.

3. No crashes though.

I will try throwing out the wacom driver, and it's preferences, then re-install, and see if it helps.

The installer should be fine. I suppose the Zebra2.data folder of your previous installation is located somewhere differently from your new one. Just drag it over your new Zebra2.data and integrate them (is that what it's called on English Win when contents are merged?). Or replace the new Zebra2.data by your old one, and run the installer again.

In any case, make a backup, as recommended in the manual.

Let me know how it goes.

The AU now opens as Cocoa view in many hosts. Thus you should file a bug report with Wacom, indicating that their tablet driver for Cocoa UIs needs to be serviced.

Note that 64-bit operation requires Cocoa, so the old Carbon view is deemed to be extinct.

Silly question, of course NOT.

The only reason why we even imagine that is... self importance.

Rather ask the question, when is the next inevitable big bang?

I believe 42 comes close.

Okay I did 2 of their online report things, describing the problem in detail.
1 with tech support, and another with defects...or some such.

Did you test the 2nd problem I listed above though?
The AU gui won't open after using the VST...and that's after closing the project file.
Only quitting out makes the au gui open again.
It happens using a mouse, not just the tablet only.

I ran the installer again with the "don't move anything" option and that worked! I have all my original & third party presets. Like everyone says, Howard's presets are very inspiring! :) -Perry-

Nice to see my name in the description of the HS KickOff preset :)

Can't be said (written) often enough imho. Frankly speaking, despite the other qualities
of this synth, the brilliant included patches by Howard were the the main reason for me
to buy Zebra in the 1st place. Many thx for this update! :-)

Hi,

I have an idea re the tablet. I could round the mouse position to integer pixels. This would also solve the problem of odd parameter values in scaled gui sizes. Will try that.

The other issue is a bit un-intuitive but easily explained:

My Mac VST and AU are the very same codebase. They are actually even the same build, thus have identical binary parts (VST gets stripped of 64-bit code though, since yesterday).

Now, the Cocoa view is written in ObjectiveC and thus contains globally visible ObjectiveC classes. Those things can only exist *once* per application. But if you load Zebra's AU and any of the VSTs, the Cocoaview exists twice (even though VST doesn't use it yet). Thus there's a namespace conflict and thus the Cocoa view fails to open.

In short: Welcome to the wonderful world of Cocoa development. Cocoa is simply not suited for plugin architectures, due to possible naming collisions! :-x

I've been waiting for that for a long time! :tu:

I can't imagine the problems you have to deal with, doing these updates.
I believe this is why man invented bars, and beer.
Might just be the right time for a break...ya think?

Michael,

Here's a build for Mac with rounded off mouse positions:

Mac: http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra251MacInstall.zip

Does this offer a workaround for your odd tablet mousing?

;) Urs

P.S.: Having beer or wine every night lately... needed to keep head aligned :hihi:

Wait... new bug in this... will upload new version in a minute

Okay

Should fix odd mouse movements ;)
