Now I know you have no idea what you are talking about... CInematic only? heheheheheBananaJoe wrote: It is my perception obviously, and i am generalizing. And for a matter of fact the OP asked for all-around presets, while no VSTi covers everything at the best, Zebra is one of the most focused cited here, it's kind of cinematic only.
What's the best vst synth for it's presets besides Omnisphere?

definitely got to go with korg's legacy the M1 alone has 3000 add in opx player and you are just over $200.
$40 for the OPX player and $180 for that 61 microkey controller that korg just put out that comes with the legacy collection.
Gsi VB3 is awesome for $50 if you like accurate virtual b3 tones
From here you could add Sonar and get the synths that come with it and have
Rapture, Z3ta and Dimension pro plus others and a bad ass DAW.
That will get you tons of presets and lots of bread and butter tones.

Best presets - it has to be Nexus 2 and Alchemy (which I think, you already have?)
Also, when it comes to movies and TV work(I believe you mentioned), Absynth comes with good presets - mainly huge pads etc, which I think are perfect for that sorts of stuff.

This is an old thread, but I have to agree, the winner is probably Nexus. Yeah, yeah, Nexus is a rompler not a real synth. But the original poster asked for the best presets, so rompler presets work just as well as synth presets.

I'd add Albino to the list - I've only ever played with the Boddy presets and they were excellent; add in the BT ones and Dark to Light and HUGE Pro-Sounds collection and you're sorted.angelremington wrote:Best presets - it has to be Nexus 2 and Alchemy (which I think, you already have?)

I'll chime in and add Synapse Audio DUNE to the list. I've spent many many hours on it lately and it really is one of my favorite soft synths.
Comes with nearly 400 presets and many commercial banks are available too.

I have Alchemy Player only but it comes with really nice presets. Also Rob papen products (Predator and Blue). Hundreds of nice patches.

Since it hasn't been brought up here - I think the synth with the most fun preset generator on-board is Oatmeal. I've saved of many of the auto-generated presets/names. I do tweak knobs myself, but somehow the random preset generator in Oatmeal comes up with interesting stuff more often than I can.
It's kind of weird calling them presets, when they are set ahead of time.

Fine, now we have mentioned almost every commercial VST in existence.

To be fair, what a complete and utter crock of shite all the above suggestions are.
Anyone with half a brain knows that This Plugin has the best presets.

Not mentioning the sound add-ons available for the synths : Same quality, at very affordable prices.

The only good preset is the one called "init"
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"
