in your opinion of course. I am currently looking at zebra but read that it's more for programmers, I bought a couple of sound packs for the Alchemy player, I have Sylenth but it's more of a trance type synth which I'm not really into.
Minimonsta has a tone of presets but I guess it's getting a little long in the tooth.
Right now Zebra2 is at the top because of it's sound. Maybe I'll try the Dune demo also.Thoughts?

FM8, Albino3 and Z3TA+ v2 are super synths for programmers and tweakers too

Depends what you're looking for really.

You say you don't want teh tarnce, but what kind of sounds are you looking for?

Hi,

"Soon" default Zebra patches will have better control for non-synth programmers (using X/Y pads ). It has alot really really good user made patch banks available also.

OP-X Pro II if you like lots of Classic/Famous 70's/80's synth patches. It has a ton of 'em. It's get my top vote for presets included.

Something versatile to where if you don't do a certain type of music, the synth doesn't become virtually useless.I write mainly for music production libraries for film and TV use so that's pretty broad and I don't need anymore synths that specialize in a particular style of music.

I'm real impressed with the zebra2 sound. Checking out the demo now.

Zebra probably is the no brainer then, although I still find it a little complex to get something quickly out of it. Saying that i've recently committed myself to buying it after finding out about the future implementation of dedicated distortion modules.

Perhaps Massive is worth a look at too. Don't be fooled by every video of it being a dubstep tutorial, that is one diverse bit of plugin!

Omnisphere > Alchemy > Albino 3

As far as presets go. Seems like I can always find something that needs only slight tweakage to get what I'm after from those three.

It's rare if you don't find a preset that fits you with Discovery Pro. There are lots of 3rd part banks available too.

I actually have massive. Good sound but I almost never use it. Beside the large cpu hit, I can't really even say why I don't use it. Just doesn't do it for me. I did get a couple thousand sounds for it. Maybe I'll fool with it again.

Same thing here. Massive is a great synth but somehow I never use it much. The interface is great, the sound is great and it's very flexible but I just don't use it. I have no idea why.

And +1 for Zebra. It's my favorite synth evaaaaaaaa :hihi:

Cheers

I do somewhat similar to what you do in a sense....for that to me omnisphere is the best....zebra sounds great and there are some banks there but without tagging I find it hard to easily find the presets quickly when you need a particular sound.....I would say hailonsonic, except I was not too impressed with the sound, but you may be.. but it is well layed out in terms of presets and tagging etc....Also the NI stuff like FM8, Absynth and Massive but truthfully I don't use them much since I have omnisphere, zebra, sylenth, etc etc.

I also want to say Nexus, but I don't own it yet and well sometimes Nexus is a bad word around here....and I guess it is geared mostly for EDM.

I'm glad there are other people who see tags as important feature. Many VSTs have hundreds of presets and my number one problem with most VSTs is that finding those really good presets is too difficult. Tags work great with photographs and I'm sure they would be equally useful with presets. Technically user definable tags should be an easy thing to add if developers just saw this area important.

I've heard Halionsonic but wasn't impressed at all. Sounded kind of same-ol-same=ol to me.Nexus seems ok and I almost bought it but something about it sounds plain. Just didn't knock my socks off though I did like what appeared to me to be a simplistic kind of easy to operate synth for somebody like me.
