I did consider the drop also, the demos sound very good but I actually find myself somewhat more partial to Volcano's sound for most of my work as well as Fab Filter's workflow.
I used the term 'outdated 'because it polite was of saying that I think the filters sound pretty poor (imo). Which is a surprise given the quality of the other FF's products.
What do you mean by poor? Flat, lacking warmth, not analog enough? Just don't sound good?

Not judging, just curious :tu:
They just don't sound that good to me tbh, and make the sound thin and a little harsh too. I'm pretty spoiled with the drop's sound. That's the daddy imo.

Waves Meta filter is nice as well, but does'nt have a huge range of options. And only a few filters, but what it has is pretty cool.

However Volcano's architecture is very well thought out and it offers a lot of options to the user.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Yeah; one of the main reasons I bought Volcano is because of all the modulation options. The delays and the four filters allow for some effects that can add great movement and depth to sounds.

I'd mention Xils RAMSES also. odf multimode analog modelled filters, real time control thru kb strokes/velo/aft/Lfo/Enveloppes, gain and stereo modulations and 3 mask sequencers with dedicated EVs to simultaneously spice the whole (+ an automatable *spray* delay, a crusher etc etc.)

I think it's my favourite filter tool because of its versatility and because of the presets that come with it. Unfortunately there isn't a demo so I took the risk of buying it and was more than happy.

+1 For LFO Tool.

So many filter options plus the ability to 'keytrack' the cut offs via midi makes this my go to filter.

So yeah I bought Volcano a few days ago and I couldn't be happier after using it a good bit. Absolutely love the sound, deep yet simple modulation system and outstanding Fabfilter UI.

Would highly recommend to anyone needing a versatile filter plugin especially at the current sale price... Its a steal, seriously.

Have you tried our Filterverse plugin? https://polyversemusic.com/products/filterverse/

What's your honest opinion about it?

My honest opinion is that there is no better filter plugin out there for variety - and points as well for ease of use.

I like filterverse, cpu tho, pretty high. I don’t use it often due to that.

As Always, The Drop is the best circuit modelled filter, closest thing to a Sherman

The Drop is very good.

Acustica's Mahogany is also very good.
A well-behaved signature.

Polyverse Filterverse is my go to. I used to use The Drop, and it's great, but not as versatile. Showing it's age, for sure. I think when the Drop 2 comes, it will be great. But the sound quality of Filterverse is very high. It's my current number one.

Sold my Acustica account. Couldn't be happier about that choice.

Yep, Filterverse is superb. I don't find cpu too bad generally, obviously it starts to rise if using multiple filters/effects (it has improved since initial release). Of all the filters I've used (lots), Filterverse is top for me overall.

Post

Filterverse is top notch. It's definitely my single favourite effect plugin and the plugin I turn to most when I want something interesting to happen. The drop's filter modelling is a step up on filterverse but that's not much of a criticism: it's a step up on everything. The drop lacks the versatility and breadth of filterverse and - most importantly for me anyway - filterverse's exceptional modulation system. I sometimes use polyverse's gatekeeper to control the drop but this obviously is less easy than just using filterverse.

Uhbik runciter is cool, too. Left field option: slink filter.
