Oh yeah, and the SoundSet tool for Knaglis :)
this is the way I would hope things would work out

You guys do know that we released a free 128 patch bank for EMM Knagalis in our FreeSets area don't you :) Just wanted to make sure

For what it's worth we think DashW is an excellent idea, and we are hoping to provide some free soundsets of our own exclusively to DashW members to help support it. Good work William 8)

thats real admirable of you
There was a mistake made alright. Telling someone what you will do, and then not doing it. William agreed to a price for a product without restrictions, and then backwatered out of what he said he would do, and this was AFTER I asked him the specifics and he replied that he would comply, not before. Just try that at any bank, or even on ebay, and see how far it gets you...

And, he never once "asked" for any forgivness, or admitted to speaking before he thought, to me. Had he done this, I would have backed off at once, and like you agreed that we all make mistakes. Im not here to cause a shitstorm, really...But I do expect the devs and vendors to do what they say they will do, and not change their minds when the mood hits them.

All he had to say was- I made a mistake... Im sorry but I wasnt thinking, or some such... No- what he said, was THEN accuse me AND you and the rest of us for wanting all of his work for nothing!! In other words blaming us for his non-thinking mistake, when I called him on it. That in a nut shell set me off, and was not called for.

opiadream, When you jumped in with both feet at that point- I was still steaming over that last one. Even if i started the "bitch-fest" as you put it (for good cause IMO), it was not directed toward you in any way, and so i lashed out which you deserved. But- I should not have replied to you as I did. For that, I apologize .. So I guess now, you are doing to me, what I did to William. Real admirable of you as well. The only difference is, I didnt change my mind after making a flat statement here like he did, and then crawfish out of it by blaming the greedy masses...

In any case- I hope DashW makes a killing with this idea, and folks like PROSOUNDS giving help can only further its success. But in the process, I hope William has learned a thing or two about opening his mouth here and elsewhere before thinking about what he really wanted to really say in the first place, and then once said- sticking to it-profits be damned. Why? After all, your word is supposed to be worth more than any amount of money (not even earned yet), and sadly that just aint natural for some folks to comprehend..

Again, a simple "I made a big mistake folks" was all that William had to say here- but didnt bother to.

BTW-, for my part- I can also see where I let the frustration on his wafflings get the better of me.
I should not have been so caught up or surprised at any of this. Things arnt the way they used to be, and those days are gone forever... Just old school seeping through i guess...:) In any event, and for that, I apolgize to the whole group for my anger and blowup. Ah well- whats done is done now...

Spikey, I'm sorry, but this is leading to nowhere. The problem is very simple, all I want to do is avoid people that come to the site, pay 29.95U$, get all the Sound-Sets, cancel the subscription, wait 5 months of hard-work, come back and do the same thing. We already gave most EVE users a free subscription for one month, including some new sound-sets and a WAV to DASHsnd conversion tool. We can't work for free, if you just can't see that the problem is you, not me. I never signed a document saying that I would allow freeloaders. You can still subscribe and get all you want, but when you return to the site, if you do that again, a "red-flag" will be raised, and if you still try that, we have to see if we will ask for a "setup" fee or just block the user. This kind of attitude is worse than piracy or warez, is trying to be "smart" and take advantage of other people work.

I have been done the best service and support on the entire music community, you can ask anyone about that. We have several people that love our work and the care that we take for people and users. But I just won't tolerate users that want only free stuff. We are not rich here, we are only on this market cause we love it, otherwise we would be doing something much more rewarding on terms of money...

Take care, WilliamK

Weeelll, here's an idea that's bound to make me popular :( .... (not):

William, why not offer original content each month that is available just that month. Take the presets and soundsets down after a month, following month is all new stuff. People can jump in as often as they want to. The more popular and necessary soundsets and presets could be posted all the time for newcomers. The stuff that only is up for a month could come back at a future date now and then. Sort of the CM way of doing things.

So why not just do this on DASHsignature, one may ask. Well, DASHw offers web space and all that, don't forget.

Anyway, just thinking out loud...

Tom

Thanks bud, but that wouldn't work very good, and we would loose the prev months work. ;-)

I think I will just stick on letting users do what they want, but if I see someone being a "smart" one, I just email the user and talk. :P

Hey, when you pay for a newspaper on those street machines, can't you pick several papers for your friends at work?

People aren't buying into your vsti subscription idea.It doesn't make sense. What if I use one of your instruments in a tune but never finish it,then a couple of months later after my subscription runs out I want to reload that tune and work on it some more.I can't because the time limit has expired. Then I would have to re-subscribe just to have access to that instrument again. It just doesn't make econonomic sense.Just think if 1000 people subscribe at the "discount" rate of 199.00 a year that's nearly $200,000.00 a year. And you say you're not in it for the money? You are the most money grubbing developer in the market.Rgc has given us Triangle 1,Triangle 2,and Sfz FREE.Linplug has given us FreeAlpha and RMF FREE.Muon has given us Tau FREE.Green Oak has given us Crystal FREE.Ichiro Toda has given us Synth1-FREE.What vsti has has Dash Synthesis given the community? But yet you're worried about people who pay you getting "free" stuff. Then just sell the soundsets separately and forget the subscription idea. You seem like a nice young man,an up and coming developer but as a businessman you are an idiot.

I think the concept is great...I also think that it'll take a while for pricing to be settled and for everyone to get happy at both ends...It's quite true that Will and Liqih are responsive to user issues and such so I think communication will clarify everything in the end...That's what feedback's all about...Another thread talked about how users decide prices...That's true...and I think that when a developer decides to have a sale/bundle/whatever it's his or her choice too... But I can also see that it can get confusing...
They're pioneering in offering this type of service so I'm sure everyone will be happy when the dust settles...
It would make sense if people would go to DashW and use the forum to give ideas after they've looked around...There is a public section where guests can post...

I NEVER expected to see anyone say that. Not anyone who has spent any time around here and knows what they are talking about. If you do not like the subscription service, then don't get it? But where else are you going to find a deal like the full dash package, or a developer that will work out deals if you already own some synths, or a developer that listens to customers like William?

Robert
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

You don’t need me to write what I think on this marketing idea William, as it seems clear what the general public think - might be worth considering thier views.

Which was perfectly ok with you William, when I asked this same direct question to you just a few days ago. Now- and once youve seen the dollar signs disapear in your answer to me, you changed your mind. Now read this next part "real slow"... I dont have have a problem with you trying to make money William. Where I have a problem, is you telling me one thing, and then changing your mind a full 180 out from what you told me, here, in just a few hours of time, and doing the other.

Hmm, just thought about it and what about this:

- soundsets are available for two months on dashw, then removed.
- then they are released on dashsignature for a higher price than 1 months subscription to dashw.

That way if you don't want the hassle of a subscription you can purchase the set, you just pay a small amt more + have to wait a little while.

Just a thought :)
