I came across it by following a circuitous trail of 4-5 posts starting with the sticky FR thread. :hihi:

Just wanted to add myself to the list of enthusiasts for this idea. Although the scrolling possibilities are very advanced in Tracktion, the linear timeline can be limiting when drafting arrangements. Yet the solution in Live is just not intuitive enough for me.

I'm still using the free version of 1.6 by the way. But this feature would definitely make me buy, say, T 2.2.

Yes. I would like to add my vote to the possibility of using tracktion for arranging in this way.

Well I've always liked this idea and I actually was thinking about it a lot lately on my own. And then the thread reapears. Coincedence?

If I read the tenor of this thread, this really seems like the way the midi sequencer worked on my old EnsoniQ ESQ-1 and VFX-SD keyboards: Process worked like this: Make a sequence of x bars / y tracks. copy. Edit track y1 and save as a new sequence. Repeat. Chain them together, deciding on how many repeats of each sequence in the chain = song. It was a very intuitive way to work, and I still crave the simple song arranging of those good old days - but not the saving of the sequences to data cassette!!!!

This would be much welcomed in T if I could work this way with MIDI; then have T generate linear; start-to-finish tracks from it, so I could overlay my audio tracks - which I prefer (once I'm practiced up) to lay down in single takes if possible - bridging over verse/chorus structures, etc.

Seems easy enough to implement.

If 10 markers is too limiting... perhaps markers could be added (10,11, 12 and so on) with an "Add New Marker At Current Location" command. They would work as arrangement construction blocks and if you needed to jump to the marker you could have it where (I don't know if there is any remaining unused key in tracktion but lets say that the "|" key isn't already used) the key combination "|109enter" could jump you to the prexisting marker 109.
