It's no problem to me, I was just asking if it was supposed to be this way with a v5 project that hadn't been changed but was saved with v6
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

At first I was missing the dedicated buttons in the browser, like for VST instruments. But it's OK...

Trying it now.
Compose, edit and modular buttons were a good idea.
Iv'e gotten use to the other way but this i can get used to to.
I like it:)

I was fooling around with "render selected part as new sample" its a good thing.
Could it also be possible to render it to a streaming audiofile to?
It would be great to see the waveform of the track an it would be easier to cut and paste.
I also miss "render tracks as new parts", the "export tracks as audiofiles" is a good thing but its a long way around the target when i want every thing back in mulab.
Is there a way to shut of all the effects i a rack with the push of a button?

You have done a good job here.
I hope you'll get the gratitude you deserve.

Thanks

You can mixdown a track to a new audio track by soloing that track + Export Composition As Audio + enable "Create New Part Using Result". Note that the resulting audio file will include all effects including any master rack plugins, as it uses the same audio that goes to your audio device.

Post

Is it possible to render all tracks as audiofiles at the same time?
So that every track is rendered to a new part.
In to the same session and/or in a new session.
That would be great for final mixing and mastering.

When I render all tracks to audio files, I noticed that the
tracks where I have SideChain on, (I use the native SCcompressor)
then it doesnt take it into account.

Is there a way to route it or another "trick" so it renders with
Sidechain.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit

There is an updated MuLab 6.0.22 test version in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/forsythia/

How to update from M6.0.21: Just replace the current app/exe + ID files by the new app/exe + ID files.

What's new:
  • You can now also drag-drop audio files on the [+] track button which will add new audio/sample tracks.
  • Fixed an issue when dropping multiple audio files onto the composer.
  • Finetuned the top context menu of the MUX play editor.
  • New shortcuttable sequence functions: Transpose -1, Transpose +1, Transpose -12, Transpose +12.
  • Renamed the No MIDI preference to "Support MIDI".
  • Ensured that the preferences window never needs horizontal scrolling to read the description.
  • When right-clicking a rack slot's On/Off or Edit button this will also lead to the rack slot's context menu.
  • The "External Audio Editor" setting has been moved to the Preferences.
  • Improved the browser: Auto Play button moved at left of progress bar + auto play controls are hidden if not applicable to current "What".
  • Finetuned the behavior of the main dock buttons.
  • Changing the pre/post switch could result in a lot of audio clicks while dragging the pre/post indicator. Tuned.
  • Fixed a bug when changing the start of an envelope part.
  • Tuned several other details.

Using M6.0.22 you can do it in 2 steps:

1) Export Tracks
2) Drag-drop the exported tracks on the [+] track button.

Of course you can choose whether you do step 2 in the same session or in a new (parallel) session.

Yes, I see it's possible to do this by stepping outside MuLab but I think jazzdoktorn has a good point. A quick shortcut within MuLab to export the rendered stems for mixing in a new session would really streamline the workflow, especially coupled with a further (separate) one to export for mastering (again in a new session).

I think it's two different operations:
- For mixing, each input to the master rack would be rendered to a stem audio track, a new session created and new tracks/racks created with the audio imported.
- For mastering, the output from the master rack would be rendered to a single audio track, a new session created and a new track/rack created with the audio imported.

I guess now isn't the time for new features, though! :)

This is where I think a single option for export would be better. In the pop up window, there could be options for all tracks or selected tracks. Further options could be added for whether these are required as a single Mix or seperate tracks. Even whether the Export is MIDI or Audio or both.

All that is needed is a single Menu entry for Export Composition with the same window for Export Comp as Audio File, with added options from other Export functions so they are all in one easily accessible place. Organisation is key to faster workflow. As I said before: More text = longer read time = slower workflow. A single Menu entry takes the decision process away from which Export function is necessary and is dealt with in a clearer context of a new window, this also has an addon effect of a clearer Menu.

This way if you're unsure which Export is right for you, there's no need to cancel it, exit the window, open the Menu, choose another, perform Export. You simply click Menu and tick option(s) depending which you want, whether it be MIDI, All tracks, Selected, Bounce/Render/Freeze selected to new track, etc. Clearer and simpler for user, at least that's my opinion.

I realise this may be extra work for you Jo, but feel in the long run it will aid workflow. This was my intention when I mentioned some time ago about Menu reorganisation. It will mean less 'Read-Time' which ultimately leads to faster workflow. I dunno... just something for you to ponder on. What do other users think about this?

EDIT: btw, I just wanted to say thanks for the Modular button, fantastic! I never really understood the routing of MuLab til I saw that! :dog: Though I'd briefly looked at the Session MuX a couple times, I didn't get it's relevance for some reason?! But it's made a huge difference being available as a button :tu:  :tu:

Do you have any idea on a price yet for M6? just wanted to start saving my pennies! :D

Waveform shape of the OSC in MuSynth is not directly editable? When I tried it, it shows me a dialog for selecting preset. This is different than in version 5.5.2 ...

If you already have a M5 UL user key, it will be below 20 euro.

Will be tuned in the next M6.0.23.

The next M6.0.23 also subtly colored tracks and racks even when not focused cfr the below screenshot. So focused track and rack still stand out, but others are still subtly colored. Hope you like it.

Observation: When I replaced the 6.021 app with 6.022 I lost full compatibility with some complex VSTs but I regained it by replacing the folder and rescanning all the VSTs anew.
