Highly unlikely - they have probably been working their asses off getting the late beta finished and integrated into Logic. As I have said before, Ben and co were never that materialistic,
Don't know the chap... But I'm sure money had a part to play. And even if it did... Fair play! Get what you can out of apple - use them as they use us $$$$$$.

Most people do the same all the time, software included. I hope they got a load of cash and then go off and develop and even better synth.

To be fair, while the Camel guys certainly had a choice and knew full well what they were doing, I'm sure Apple knew what they were doing as well. So if people are angry at Apple I would suggest that perhaps they feel that way because Apple are just demonstrating Apple-like behaviour - and what happened to Camel Audio is just the latest focus/example. It takes two to tango.

Having spent I don't know how many hours on an Alchemy soundset that now won't ever be finished, I could well feel sore too, but I don't. I still have Alchemy working fine, and will continue to use it for the next 10 years I expect. More filters etc would be nice, but I'm not noticing any massive shortcomings here. In many ways it's helpful to just get on with using something I'm familiar with rather than having to readjust to something new.

I'm sure Apple's main aim is to provide rewards for Logic users, and to win some more market share in the Mac DAW market. I don't reckon they are expecting anyone to buy a Mac just to get Alchemy 2(?). Not only would the cost be exorbitant, but people get stuck in their ways and find it more efficient to work with what they are familiar with. The first computer I owned ran MS_DOS 5. I did use NeXT for a while, but any time I've tried looking at a Mac I just find it hopelessly counter-intuitive. I might be a slightly extreme case, but I'm not going to spend a year or two trying to retrain myself to do things differently until I really have absolutely zero choice.

Good luck to the Logic users - I'm sure they'll have a lot of fun with Alchemy - it's the bee's knees! :tu:

Nothing you say changes the fact that he well knew Apple would in no way continue a windows version.. or did he think by some one in a million chance they would change their policies that are well known throughout history, for alchemy?
And the idea they are on some tropical island living it up when they have just got it into Logic in record time isn't? That's not the Camel I know. They will have been working flat out. You are not being realistic, you're assuming he had lots of offers from cross platform people as well as Apple, I doubt that somehow.

i don't understand how a virtual plugin company that had almost 600,000 pounds in the bank could be going out of business.
Yeah I don't think it was that.

I like to think it was more like this (given an offer they couldn't refuse):

It seems very unlikely to me that Camel Audio was in any danger of going out of business. They were very active with development, marketing, and support, and considered one of the top developers and biggest names in the audio software industry. It seems more likely that Apple needed a flagship synth to complete Logic Pro X, knew that Alchemy 2 was imminent, and made a very opportunistic move to acquire Camel Audio.

This sums it up for me! I think it's a great update.

Might even encourage other DAWs devs to do the same. You could say that Vemberaudio's Surge, in some capacity anyway, went over to Bitwig (afaik). Nice job from the BW guys.

See that's the one major issue i see with Apple taking over CA, and integrating Alchemy into Logic. Support. ZenPunkHippy was kinda omnipresent here, but now, when you have a problem with Alchemy, you need to contact Apple for support. I have no idea how the Apple support is, but usually, such big companies are not really known for their good support (half way understandable with millions of users, and thousands of dummy users), especially when you need support for more or less niche products like audio apps.

Ok.... so you get Logic Prox X, the sequencer AND Alchemy for $200 with 3000+ sounds? That's a great deal!

I've never owned a Mac, but it might be time to start looking to saving my chips!

Definitely. As i wrote, it's amazing. Apple surely made one hell of a deal there, and you only can gratulate them to that.

Honestly why do people
Act like camel audio cheated on them?

You bought a product, got
To use it with full support until they decided to sell out to apple. It was'nt a marriage between you and camel
Audio and no they never owed you alchemy 2.0.

Quit complaining like you just got screwed over on a personal level and just accept the changes like any other mature adult.

It does not mean it is the end of the world that alchemy is now apple exclusive, it just means apple paid them more money than you ever did and will for camel audio. Life isn't fair.

So you have can act like a spoiled entitled brat and complain which will do nothing or just find a solution to obtain logic which means purhasing an apple or creating a hackintosh etc.

Good grief.
