Yea from me. I don't Think it will make much difference for the OSC.

Yea...
But will it be allowed to use both or just one of them?
(As I remember, in the last tunefish OSC just tunefish2 or tunefish3 was allowed, but tf3 & tf4 are much closer in sound/structure than tf2 & tf3 I think, so having both of them would be cool)

Looks like an interesting synth, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Going by the stability issues that people are posting I am somewhat apprehensive! Has anyway used it successfully in win7/Reaper yet?

Yes for both Tunefish3 and Tunefish4 they are very the same,
even if in Tunefish3 the osc is splitted, you can produce more or less the same sounds.
Live can't stand both though, so this time I'll be using energyXT,
and for some parameters I need to expose them through the energyXT
interface, otherwise they are not editable,
you can do the same in Live, but since Live it more prone to crash I will work with the small DAW.
Also true for me that the Tunefish4 GUI has a much much higher CPU load than the sound engine. Could be the OpenGL driver?

Another data point: the TF4 GUI is great for me (CPU load is not noticeable) on the last downloaded version OSX 10.11, Bitwig 1.3.11. The version I built myself exhibits the very high CPU usage - a JUCE version issue maybe?liqih wrote:... Tunefish4 GUI has a much much higher CPU load than the sound engine. Cool little synth. Impressive range for something used in demoscene projects.
The scale and harmonics knobs are particularly intersesting to get different character from the sound.
A couple of bug comments for payne_bc:
I'm using the 64bit dll uploaded a few pages ago, using in 64 bit FL Studio.
I've been making and saving presets using the FL Wrapper, not the built-in preset manager.
No factory presets were there when I loaded it. (Perhaps because I just loaded the dll and not the original installer?)
Had a couple of UI issues. I'm able to get some results, but the UI is unfortunately not redrawing the mod matrix settings and effects stack for me.
When I first add a new instance of the plugin, looks fine and seems responsive. If I close the plugin then come back to it, the mod matrix entries are empty (not "none", but just empty.)
The sounds are fine, so the mod mappings seem to still be working. Even if I reload one of my plugins, the sounds are correct, but mappings and FX slots in the UI are blank, I can't see what's mapped where.
Either way, cool so far.
Peace
Z

For programs, copy the tf4programs folder to the same location as the .dll. It may solve the FX slot issue...zippy731 wrote:... No factory presets were there when I loaded it. ... FX slots in the UI are blank, I can't see what's mapped where.

A "save as" function for presets would be of great help also.

yeay! Haked the code, rebuild the VC++ project by hand, no jucer, and I have a VST 32-bit build for Windows with very low CPU usage!z.prime wrote:Another data point: the TF4 GUI is great for me (CPU load is not noticeable) on the last downloaded version OSX 10.11, Bitwig 1.3.11. Everything seems to work, I have to check more, if presets in Live work too, then I would upload it.

Can you file a PR (or just point me at a branch) and I can test it out with an OSX build?liqih wrote:yeay! Thanks for that.z.prime wrote:For programs, copy the tf4programs folder to the same location as the .dll. It may solve the FX slot issue...zippy731 wrote:... No factory presets were there when I loaded it. ... FX slots in the UI are blank, I can't see what's mapped where.
I loaded the presets as you suggest, and I can now see them in the preset drop list. Some nice sounds in the factory banks too!
However, any custom presets that I save (using Fruity wrapper FST) seem to maintain the correct settings, but mod matrix and FX stack are still invisible in UI.
I also tried renaming one of the blank INIT presets, then changing and "save" using the plugin preset UI. Saved the preset (I think,) but same UI redraw problem as the other method.
BUT I promise not not use this as an excuse later.

- made a new VC++ 2008 project by hand
- set
#define JUCE_USE_DIRECTWRITE 0
- removed startTimer (50);
from Tunefish4AudioProcessorEditor()
- changed: auto to int and nullprt to 0, for compatibility with the old compiler
- built the DLL Release with SSE2 and usual optimizations.
Hope that helps.

I'll vote Yea as well.bjporter wrote:That's what I thought. Tunefish3 and 4 are VERY similar.liqih wrote: Mostly in the oscillator, but the overall sound and features are very comparable. Anyway as update I was able to save Tunefish4 presets in energyXT 32-bit clicking copy, paste and then save. Not sure how realiable would be in a full project anyway. Still some menus are not always selected. And I haven't tried automation yet. The synth looks powerful but a bit scary for the compatibility issues.
How about we do a vote. Let's say 10 people.
Should Tunefish 3 be allowed? Yea or Nay?
I'll start off with a Yea
3 seems to be working better on my system, even if it doesn't remember patches either.

I vote yes for using both Tunefish3 and Tunefish4!
Already started a track with version 4 and tried to create some patches on my own, but not getting along with the save functionality, so I ended up with using presets again. Tunefish3 seems to have more presets so that's a plus for me.
As I am just starting making my own patches, unluckily this seems to be the wrong challenge for me, as I want an easy to use preset save/load system. Perhaps next OSC will be better for making my own patches!
