Well if it was Tracktion8 it would'nt be allowed to have a Mixer per Jules !!! .... It's Waveform now. ... If it gets new users and the company grows I'm fine with it . To be honest Waveform makes all the other linear DAWs kind of redundant to have now , unless you need something like Bitwig , Renoise , or Ableton Live .... A Pattern type DAW ...... Maybe TSC will come out with some sort of pattern/recorder/launcher type of product VSTi or what have ya one day , I think they could do something similar ?chico.co.uk wrote:0:58 in above...

He said it has a modular mixer... but didnt show anything modular.
Does it have a fully modular mixer or was that just random buzzwords?

If you wee referring to my earlier "modular" comment
this is what I meant:
https://ask.audio/articles/getting-modu ... ects-racks
They call it Plugin Rack.
Only VST effect or can use VSTi's?
I love Bidule, Multi-instrument and Patcher.

But with Waveform with
ARA
Multi-touch
improved midi
Modular environment
Mixer
it is a viable candidate!

I'm guessing upgrades will be $49 then?
If so, good value for this release, I reckon.

Don't think I know what a modular mixer is. Anybody want to explain?

I suspect what they mean is it's not a fixed architecture you just slot stuff into but dictated by the other screen (ie the trad Tracktion devices chain) where you can move around every element to your hearts content - faders, plugins, processors, visualisers etc

99$?
I'm afraid, this price is quite on the edge IMHO. That's the price of cubase elements or sonar and both are more mature daw's, offering more tools and even more effects and sounds. And given the fact that a lot of hardware comes with some form of free cubase versions or sonar, it is even cheaper to upgrade than buying trackt...errr waveform.

Who upgrades to cubase elements? I'd rather use a four track

Even big new full fat Cubase 9 doesn't have automation curves, so Cubase Extra Lite would be a proper step back in time.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Does it really matter what you personally would use? I'm speaking generally. Just because it is called Cubase Elements, doesn't mean it's elementar in its functions and features.chico.co.uk wrote:Who upgrades to cubase elements? I'd rather use a four track
I'm just thinking about whether the higher price will potentially harm Tracktion or not. We all, I suppose, do use or have used other daw's too, so please, let's not start another pointless daw flame war.

$99 ..... Well that gives them room for future sales , upgrade sales , bundle sales ....etc etc . Sales and Marketing is all it is , unlike Reaper where it's $60 fixed priced . Presonus , Ableton , Propellerhead , and Bitwig do the same sort of sales pricing and strategies. Basically $99 is the highest sales price and starting point . Live lite , S1artist , and many of the other lite softwares are pretty crippled and some of them are $99 .

Will probably update to Halion 6 soon too - TSC please keep Tracktion (Wavewhatever) slim and addons optional as before.
