Great effort and the results paid it off completely! And total love for the new wavefolder.
The new gui looks cleaner and the modulation knobs are visually better linked to the target parameters. Thanks for that!
I had a crash when switching between skins via the default skin selector in the preferences (HostingAU on 10.12.6), but I couldn't replicate it.

Same issue here. Happens if you have too many skins installed. The Preferenes list is limited to 10 items?Urs wrote:Hmmm... now I wish I could tag one of my coworkers like on Facebook. But I'm sure tasmaniandevil won't miss this to look into it.- Dark 8 skin was not listed in Default skin list. Had to select it (empty space, control-click), restart Logic and it came up and was listed as default skin then. Was previously Unempty Darkhorse.

Initial impression is great so far! Loving the new folder and reverb modules. I like the new default skin, really easy on the eyes although I might prefer just a tad more contrast (text vs background). Didn't play too much with the new preset browser yet. Thanks for the christmas gift, U-He!
Lastly, I hope you don't mind me bringing up some feature requests (again) which I think could fit in the 2.8 scope as they are mostly polishing and improving workflow:
1) Make the GUI remember the display order of the module panels. It's resetting everytime I close and re-open the GUI. It should probably saved in the preset? I wouldn't be surprised if this had been discussed before...
2) Allow MSEGs as source for lane volume, currently only Gate, Env1-4 are available. I know this can be worked around, but this is about workflow and consistency...
3) Have global transpose / fine tune available as targets in the mod matrix. That actually bothers me a lot. E.g. when doing 4-op FM, right now if I want pitch mod I have to set it up 4 times and have to be careful that all mod depths are the same... Also, I often like a global vibrato without beatings between oscillators.
[EDIT]: Actually, I don't really mean global pitch mod, but per-voice global pitch mod (affects alls oscs/FMOs of a voice equally).
Merry christmas!

Rock-solid here, not a single crash (Cubase 6.5, Win 7). Stupid question probably but how do you save presets to your (sub)folder of choice instead of saving to default user folder?

That might be part of the rewrite for horizontal scrolling & no more 32 modules limit. Not sure how that'll be tackled and if it can be put into Z2.karrikuh wrote:1) Make the GUI remember the display order of the module panels. It's resetting everytime I close and re-open the GUI. The current MSEGs can't do it (they may loop forever) and will deprecate over time. Zebra3 will have new ones which will allow for a "VCA Mode" that ends at 0. That's one of the reasons for the rewrite, but I don't think it's likely to ever get into Zebra2. There is a tiny chance for that if the new MSEGs can be made backwards compatible. But latter is only an option if it doesn't interfere with the new feature set of MSEG 2.02) Allow MSEGs as source for lane volume, currently only Gate, Env1-4 are available. I know this can be worked around, but this is about workflow and consistency...
Global transpose is also coming in Zebra 3, and possibly in all new synths which don't emulate specific hardware.3) Have global transpose / fine tune as mod targets in the matrix. That actually bothers me a lot. E.g. when doing 4-op FM, right now if I want pitch mod I have to set it up 4 times and have to be careful that all mod depths are the same... We'll see...
Have a great christmas too!

I came here to say that the UI is such an improvement that it makes Zebra sound better.Urs wrote:it's the slightly bigger UI with its overall more consistent and pleasant design which plays a trick on people's perception.
Cheers. Happy holidays.

Which also was the intent of my original post on the 'sound improvement'

Great update!
I like the DotEight skin but it also does not show up for me in preferences as selectable default (probably have too many skins installed like someone wrote above? Several others also don't show up).
Not sure about the DarkEight skin - definitely not for me I fear
Is there a way to re-order the preset categories?
I'd love to have some of the new categories on top, like Favourites etc.
Thanks a lot for the update and may all the team have a lovely holiday season and a great start into 2018!!!
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks a lot for the update !
Will the 2 new effects be added to zebrify?
This was actually the first thing I checked as I really like zebrify and if I’m not mistaken previous zebrify version contained all of Zebra effects.
