FL 10 is the last "real FL". After that, downhill and it is keep going on..
Songs produced in FL 10 = + 100, in FL 11 = 3, FL 12 = zero. Same thing is with many my producer friends. They either keep using FL 10 as long as they can or they have moved to another DAW's. FL is dead, at least for us, old school users.
I already bought Cubase 9 pro.. but sold it after 5 months. Month ago I bought Live, as Live 10 fix all the problems what are annoying to me in Live 9. Still waiting the 10 beta invitation tho.
As FL has free lifetime updates, I keep checking every release.. If I can make a wish, I would wish FL 10 in 64 bit. I would move it right away.. I'm feeling quite lost and my creativity is not same in other DAWs what it is in FL 10. This is quite sad too. I don't produce music so much anymore. I really miss FL 10 Please make it as 64bit, thanks!

This doesn't make sense, FL Studio 11 has all the features as 10 (inc the bitmap GUI), and more (like 64 Bit support and Patcher). How exactly is FL Studio 11 inferior to 10?keel wrote:FL 10 is the last "real FL". After that, downhill and it is keep going on..

i wish there was a simple drag'n'drop option for reordering effects or copying them into other chains. same drag'n'drop option for reordering channels in the mixer would be great. also i wish back the possibility to deactivate the vst3 plugin path since this does many trouble on my system with my installed plugins. i was able to save fruity layer in an earlier version and i still use it all the time, please bring it back (yes i tried patcher for that but this a complete other workflow and harder to setup). audio editing could be way better (for example when cutting vocals, quick fades, quick clip gain, zoom-level, tab to transient, ...) but that's probably not a problem for your main audience.
other than this i'm pretty happy with it!

Clearly you haven't used the utility in question, or simply unable to due to it being a Windows only application, there are two video's in that thread, the larger of which is specific to VFX previewing purposes with video, but clearly you didn't grasp that....I mean there is a video playing and a spectrograph scrolling ( And no you can't change colours of that in Studio One ). There's plenty of subtle profiles where colours are only slightly tweaked for better clarity, brightness, darkness for example and a big range of negative/inverse profiles to make using programs more visible in sunlit environments. It was part of my own project to support the user community of those on the presonus forums..it's been download over 700 times over there.Coxy wrote:Perhaps end users could use your extended profiles for the the "Ultimate Free Daw Colour Enhancer Utility" and make FL studio look like a psychedelic nightmare instead?THE INTRANCER wrote:Also the colour combinations and contrasts look awful, no unity of colours, reminds me of a patchwork quilt looking at it. Also the sliders look toy like.
I'm not having a go... well perhaps I am but it's mildly irritating that you see yourself as the last word on what's good or what's not in the GUI department. You probably already know this (given your extensive experience..) but what GUI works for one user clearly won't always work for another, hence we live in a world of options to suite our own work, styles, tastes and methods of thinking.
After reading your posts within this thread I have to say I am sympathetic to BMoore and Inkwarps comments on your "posting style" shall we'll call it.
And in the interest of fairness, I don't use, own or have any interest in FL Studio.
As for my experience in GUI design, yeah... well besides having a degree in interactive interface development I acquired through University 10 years ago, a 2D & 3D digital artist, designing interfaces regularly since then and been using GUI's for over 30 years, don't wear glasses and have perfect 20/20 vision. I'd say I'm pretty adept when it comes to interfaces in general in what works and what doesn't... It's my opinion, take it or leave it.
I will be brutally honest at times, I'll look at things from different angles, I've a thick skin, but crossing me is really not a good idea. On the flip side, I spent 3 years helping users on a daily bases everyday with technical issue's and supporting them with the knowledge I have on the PC platform and developing lots of cool stuff for the users there at no cost to them...which has been the case on other daw forums in the past. I'm a nice generous guy really..skilled and from what others have said, talented.
I've been on many user forums over the past 18 years, professional CGI one's besides music technology one's. I've have my fans / friends and I've had many that have expressed their hate and envy. Either way, I will just laugh... with them or at them

Nice development, kudos for listening to your user base.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

FL Studios ui is very pleasing to me. It's neither too dark nor super bright and it's well structured (easy working on 2 screens here). I don't know what others meant with fancy colors (it's mostly solid midtone greys here). Sure you can color clip and so on if you like to, but you don't have to, so I don't see any problems here. I'm excited for the release of 12.9.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

i may be misunderstanding you, but you can do the things in FL.frizzbee wrote:i wish there was a simple drag'n'drop option for reordering effects or copying them into other chains. same drag'n'drop option for reordering channels in the mixer would be great. also i wish back the possibility to deactivate the vst3 plugin path since this does many trouble on my system with my installed plugins. i was able to save fruity layer in an earlier version and i still use it all the time, please bring it back (yes i tried patcher for that but this a complete other workflow and harder to setup). audio editing could be way better (for example when cutting vocals, quick fades, quick clip gain, zoom-level, tab to transient, ...) but that's probably not a problem for your main audience.

regarding the vst3 path, yuo simply need to go into the Plugin Manager and deselect the path on the right hand side..?
if you hold left-click and scroll the mouse wheel, you can reorder the slots or anything in fact, playlist and channel rack.
editing fades and such, you can use Edison.. or SliceX
it still has it's niggles it's true...

you're right, reordering is possible with the mouse wheel. i forgot because i never use it since my mousewheel is continuous with no steps. so finding the spot where the fx/channel should go to is pretty hardinkwarp wrote:i may be misunderstanding you, but you can do the things in FL.frizzbee wrote:i wish there was a simple drag'n'drop option for reordering effects or copying them into other chains. same drag'n'drop option for reordering channels in the mixer would be great. also i wish back the possibility to deactivate the vst3 plugin path since this does many trouble on my system with my installed plugins. i was able to save fruity layer in an earlier version and i still use it all the time, please bring it back (yes i tried patcher for that but this a complete other workflow and harder to setup). audio editing could be way better (for example when cutting vocals, quick fades, quick clip gain, zoom-level, tab to transient, ...) but that's probably not a problem for your main audience.

same for the audio editing. sure i could use edison and work destructive, but for example in Cubase i could select all audio clips and just move a single point on one clip a bit more in and i got a fade in on all of them. i can tweak it all the time as a realtime effect. FL has its own way with automation clips/overlays but everyone who once adjusted the length of an audio clip and had to adjust its envelope point knows what hassle this is. that's why i assume the target audience just doesn't need it that much.
no, the FL plugin path and VST3 are the only paths i can't deselect. of course i searched the imageline forum first and one dev wrote this is the new standard and there's no reason to use vst2 over vst3. he seemed surprised someone asked for it and he couldn't imageine that companies have troubles releasing good working vst3 versions. so one day vst2 will not be possible anymore, only vst3.
the vst3 scan causes trouble on my machine (probably some plugins) everytime i scan a new plugin.

I agree, I wish I can cut(ctrl + X) channels or drag-and-drop channels between Channel Rack and Patcher freely.frizzbee wrote:(yes i tried patcher for that but this a complete other workflow and harder to setup).

I didn't move to FLS 12 because the new mixer isn't appealing to me. It's the new peak meters that are the worst IMO, I enjoy the changing color bitmap thing that FL11 and lower do. I would also like a fast option in the mixer to clear the effects rack and all routings. If FLS 12 could have the peak meters that look like the old ones, with the ability to resize, that would be great too. And a hotkey to bring forward and focus the mixer window, with custom key binds like reaper. In fact if the whole thing could be scripted (to change colors and stuff) that would make me switch for sure.

I've always enjoyed Chess, besides music production
But anyway, isn't this thread about FL Studio..?

yes it is, it's not about chess, not about you, not about how much you know about gui's, not about your 10 year old nephew, not about your music productions nor open for trolling. In fact as you state you use something else it's about time you move along now.

Question to all of you who are testing the 12.9 Beta,
I rolled back to 12.4.2 since the upgrade after that had issues with plugin scan that I could never solve. The plugin scan in 12.4.2 is quick and works like a charm. The question is if there are some improvements or work done to the plugin scan in 12.9?
Cheers!
