i think "buying a person" is frowned upon in most places nowadays.
except the dark web maybe...
Unless Xoxos is really a planet after all...

Rurik is a person, I guarantee it. I'm not going to speak for anybody but seems like a free agent to me. ;)
Most of us would appreciate donations...

Here's a thought:

I'd buy Casio and produce the greatest synthesizers in history - that would all proudly brandish the name on the back, front, sides...

I mean, I do understand the reasons, but, MIDI is really so yester-yester-year. I think it wouldn't be rocket science to develop something better, with better resolution, out of the box API to display parameters on a device's display, out of the box parameter learn system etc.
I for one think it is amazing we in the music tech world has one of the oldest standards around. To stay on topic  you could take over the MMA and extend the MIDI protocol. Just don't touch the DIN connectors! :D
I think I would buy PreSonus and release their secret internal MIDI code to the MMA https://www.midi.org/about-the-mma to use as a MIDI extension. Apparently Studio One imports and exports MIDI files, but they use a proprietary method internally for dealing with MIDI control-data automation.

From their user guide:
Look Mom, No MIDI!

The Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) specification was created in 1983. While it has served musicians well for more than 25 years, it has some limitations in terms of resolution and speed. We circumvent many of those limitations within Studio One by substituting our own high performance control system in place of MIDI when controlling certain vital internal parameters.

As an example, fine-grained parameter automation is provided within virtual instrument parts, rather than much lower-resolution (128 steps) MIDI control-data automation. The Control Link system is also made possible by abstracting MIDI from Studio One's internal processes. As MIDI evolves and new potential standards are developed, Studio One remains prepared for the innovations of the future.

Yes, I have been curious about this feature too. A similar standard worth acquiring and released as opensource should be ARA. I so lack ARA support in MuLab (it's expensive for small devs)!

This is pure marketing. Its nothing more than adapting to VST3 expressions. Bitwig does it as well...

If you buy a small software company and if its members no longer work for it afterwards chances are high that company will not live much in your hands.

After i’ve fed all the starving children in the world i would fund a software company or two. Unless i have a huuuuge stack of cash. I would buy apple and put out Alchemy v3. (There’s a lot more i would do but that is a rant due to emerge in it’s own thread.) Or hire Brian Cleavenger away from NI and get Absynth updated. Madrona Labs would get a grant.
Most likely i would fund some small, truly innovative, and unknown entities. Or start one.
