Will iZotope now remove the soft ilok from the exponential audio software and join it into their usual protection scheme? I only ask, because I am not such a fan of soft ilok, since it introduces a lot of disadvantages for the paying customer, for example it seems to be require two permanent and clunky installed system services and also is very expensive when it comes to reselling or recovering licenses (I would expect to pay the vendor but not the license scheme provider), etc. Also I always have the impression that software using soft ilok tends to be more buggy and/or unstable and performs worse... Maybe that is a wrong assumption, though.

I’m kind of surprised no one else has mentioned this part of the email:
I’m excited to be working with them, and I’ll be working with iZotope for quite some time.
Am I to assume that his goal is to eventually leave izotope completely like he left Lexicon? He does realize that a lot of customers are buying EA plugins because if his algorithms, right? As far as I’m aware, Lexicon no longer has his expertise to tap when it comes to development. Is that going to happen to izotope as well?

He could also mean that he views this as a long-term opportunity and expects to remain with the company.

Maybe he just wants to retire someday.

i think he meant to reassure potential customers that it's not just a "kill a competitor" sort of acquisition, but rather a "continue developing EA products, but under iZotope banner" type situation.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Can't argue, with sending Izotope a request to merge my accounts at 18:16 and getting a reply at 18:35 to say they had done it. Top bananas.

Or he means that he signed a contract that has a specified duration at the end of which he is unsure as to what he'll do, but knows it's important to keep his name and brand alive outside of company affiliations.

His resume isn't a company jumper -- his long tenure at Lexicon then independently as Exponential Audio is impressive. And effectively he is still EA, just with a different owner.

I'd wager retirement after years of some great Izotope contributions.

(Crazy Speculation on these boards).

"Authorization

iLok2, iLok3, or iLok Machine License
Exponential Audio products are not available in iZotope’s Product Portal"

right on the page.

Hope all of Izotope goes full ilok, because they want to make it so "easy for the musician who doesn't know how to work the products that are out there," LoL

I think Lexicon were cutting back on Staff when Michael left, it happens with many companies their algo guys get really good but the owner is on way more money and they don't listen to the experts so off they go to from their own company. I use R4 and Excalibur as my main reverbs I've found them in my account at iZotope so everything has moved over ok.
