Downloaded- have to log in to active...fair enough...
No pre-sets- have to download and install a separate download manager to get pre-sets?

I simply cant be bothered...deleted.
Yeah, it's weird how much a difference a first impression can make. FM is my favorite synthesis method from 2-op all the way up, and after screwing around for thirty minutes to make f'em work, I'm not feeling I need it. I think a standalone installer for the content would have fixed the most pressing issue I ran into, but 10 seconds to bring up an instance in my DAW is underwhelming. I'm sure they'll get this fixed soon enough, though, so I hope other folks enjoy it.

Aggressive is pretty obvious considering the name of the synth. So I have to ask, is this a serious complaint or were you just hoping to get the name of the synth in reply?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Well, I took a look around the GUI (which I wasn't keen on) and started making a patch -I don't think it is for me anyway...I am more impressed with Algoritm for Reason and its 'less is more' approach as I could pretty much just use it without too much review, I think F'em would be too much for me.

Yes, it is ...
I don't want to see violent - for what reason ever - people as an argument or an advertise to buy a synth or other musical stuff.
Another example: 'Katana' the guit amp by BOSS. Katana is a tool to kill people, nothing else.
I think we should take care about the words and pictures we are using.

I'll just post it here and hope the tracktion team notices it .
A long attack phase for operator 8 , all of a sudden became a hold phase with no gradual rise whatsoever ( didn't touch any of the other stages and upper )
This has happened two times ( operators are routed directly to output ) , edit happens wih all operators but the bug is difficult to replicate
Anyway , it seems they released it a bit to soon , and I don't feel like beta testing :)

I have to say that Tracktion's other recently released plugin, Hyperion (which I went to purchase right after the beta period was up) is by far a million times more sonically better than this plugin. If you haven't heard it yet, check out the combi patches which are low in CPU even when enabling monster multi-core mode.

Hyperion is an underrated synth. You have to check it out and see for yourself as to how great the patches and combis are.

In contrast, I don't understand how a developer could load up so many extremely basic ass presets on an eleven-operator FM synth and put it out there as the official demo

Traction should apologize and temporarily pull down the plugin until better presets are created.

And yes, I agree, Reason's Algorithm kills it out the gate.

f-em sounds pretty damn good , so do the filters and that 's no surprise since it done by Wolfram Franke ( waldorf fame )
At least try to roll your own stuff instead of critcizing the poor patches .

Set nr. of voices to one , now play two notes ..you will actually hear two voices .
What gives ?
Iam trying hard to replicate the envelope bug where the attack is suddenly disregarded ( obviously only noticeable when attack stage is fading in ) .
It's really hit and miss , I save the preset as an fxp file , upon loading it plays file ..after a while the bug appears ..really strange

Edit : just after typing this post ..the bug appeared again

Bug or design choice , when routing operator 8 to the output , double clicking the output sets it to full volume , on any other operator it sets to - inf ( zero volume )

The factory content keeps disappearing right after the download manager downloads it (this is on a Mac/catalina). The file appears in my downloads folder AS it is downloading, but then when it completes, it disappears - regardless of whether the install after download option is checked. In both the user and system libraries, no presets or samples appear either - the folders are there for the user library only, and they are empty. The Content folder in Application support is also empty. Download manager shows content installed - reinstall just starts the whole download/disappear again. Have tried redownloading three times.
EDIT - it not only disappears, it still takes up drive space. It's like it becomes an invisible file, but untraceable. Doesn't show up in the download location when using the hidden files reveal keystrokes either. It's like the Tracktion download manager is invading the the computer. Downright creepy - PLEASE acknowledge and fix!

Did you rescan the presets? I imagine it's disappearing because it's copying it to where it actually needs to go (wherever that is...not any of the places you looked apparently) after the download completes.

Yes. And reset destination prefs before each re-attempt. Others are reporting the same here and on Facebook.

That's fair. I just know I had to do a preset scan in the synth before they showed up so I wanted to make sure you'd done that.

Looks like it’s not just F-em content:

If it's any consolation the presets are pretty bad :hihi: The sample content is probably worth having though.

UPDATE - sustain/sostenuto pedal bug described below only happens on operators using TX waves. Operators using the other waveforms behave as expected.

Something really funky going on with sustain pedal and voice allocation in non-MPE mode (haven't tested with MPE yet). Some notes will just not sustain with the pedal down, others go through envelopes at what seem to be varying rates and then just stop. Same behavior with sostenuto when it's switched on for the layer.. Doesn't seem to matter how many voices are set.

Sorry to be complaining, just very excited about the synth itself - this has so much for serious, detailed programming that has been frustratingly missing from other implementations of FM - the design seems like an SY77/99 engine if that had continued to develop at a good pace since its heyday. But that makes serious bugs all the more frustrating since one wants to actually start using it! If the bugs can be worked out this will be a true sound designers' FM in a plugin format.
