I also had something similar for my ASR-10, a Syquest SCSI drive. I think the cartridges for that were 40MB but they were huge. It was a lot better than the Zip Drives I had been using, which were unreliable, although they were 100MB cartridges and tiny compared to the Syquest. 40MB was enough for all the samples and MIDI for every song I'd ever written. The cable for it, though, was more like a garden hose than an electrical cable, the connector was huge and the board for the ASR-10 to make it all work cost some stupid amount. Technology in the 90s was not for the poor, although it kept me very poor for many years.dellboy wrote: Sat Mar 26, 2022 12:17 pmYeah, I had one of those 20mb hard-disks for my Atari. If memory serves correctly it was at least a foot square and 2 inches tall or so. You switched it on and it had to spin up to speed. Happy days.wilmarboer wrote: Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:15 pm Then I got a Atari MEGA ST with a shocking 20mb harddrive. Added a Roland D70 later.
What Came First For You ? The DAW or The Hardware Synth ?

I had an image of THE INTRANCER still in his baby bouncer at an advanced age. It explained some of the later behaviour to me.jancivil wrote: Sun Mar 27, 2022 10:55 pmThere appears to be a joke I'm not getting.Grumbleweed wrote: Sat Mar 26, 2022 11:12 amThe problem is you were born in the early 60's.THE INTRANCER wrote: Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:47 pmI've photo's of me in a baby bouncer during the 1970's if that'll help..BONES wrote: Fri Mar 25, 2022 6:19 amAre you seriously expecting us to believe that you are more than 22 years old? I had about 12-15 hardware synths together with my tascam msr 24dbx synced to an Atari with notator (I don't consider that as a DAW) before I switched to PC with logic 5 and then Cubase SX soon after..

The problem is you were born in the early 60's.

Yeah, I'm shocked he was born as long ago as '78.

My mother was showing me pictures of me as an infant or toddler one day, and one in the stack was a shot of the TV.
"You made that." - I wasn't very old at this juncture I don't reckon, but I was baffled that I could have made a TV at such a young age, because I'd sure forgotten how.
I'm not kidding. Eventually it dawned on me, but man I was feeling like I musta really lost my edge at like 4.

you built an actual working tv? not a cardboard box with a hole for the screen and some knobs you made out of an old egg box, then pretended to read the news to your mum?jancivil wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 8:24 pm My mother was showing me pictures of me as an infant or toddler, and one in the stack was a shot of the TV.

did do some electronics stuff with my granddad but i was much older then, probably 11/12.

Funny you mention that, but I was actually I was born on the date that Star Wars - A New Hope was first released in US cinemas. Something I don't think I knew about until almost 30 years later, although as a kid I knew it was a film from the 1970s.vurt wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 8:21 pm bet he was conceived after his parents had been to see star wars.
