They did the right thing, now show support!
Right, they did - from our perspective. But this happened after quite some time and everything but based on their own free will!
This w i l l have an impact on the future and everybody "happy" about this "great" decision should not forget these words, as they will come back in everybody's mind in a surely not too far future.
I will - nonetheless - go on to transfer all my projects and works to another DAW's basis, so that in another situation like the preceding my transfer will smooth and easy.
This doesn't mean to leave Bitwig Studio for now, but... it will end up in a thoroughly made preparation for a quick exit from Bitwig in the next kind of allegedly and so-called "communication failue" (what an infantile euphemism.....).

But this happened after quite some time
4 business days... and that includes time to put out an update, create a newsletter, change their store and update the website, etc.

Tik tok minds of 2022. Impatiently doom scrolling their lives away one mini dopamine hit at a time.

I agree Bitwig turned it around pretty quick. Also Germans do not work on the weekend.

My upgrade plan ends on November 25. Hoping we get a stonking version 5.0 before Xmas.

Since I purchased the Spectral Suite before the change to include it as 4.4, today Bitwig added 7 months to my active plan and also there is a refund button on my account page if I want a refund rather than the additional months.

Sounds fair. Are you happy with that deal?

I wanted to buy it, but was pretty sure it would get walked back and included... Thought I'd save them the admin headache :hihi:

(I don't like to update stuff mid project anyway)

THERE IS a 3rd party (For Sale) add-on called "Colourizer" for Logic but I found it distracting. It may have made more sense for earlier releases, but if you are using the current Logic and quite a few versions back there's lots of appearance preferences now much like Ableton not onlt to pick light medium dark theme/mode. Logic also lets you colour tracks/regions and take it even further letting you designate VISUAL ICONS (stock or custom) of instruments/audio/FX on each track.

Aren't there 3rd party themes for Logic?

In my eyes - compared with the original plans of Bitwig (the AddOn-idea) - this change was not caused by insight, insteat I assume it to be their method of damage control and limitation, caused by the foreseeable upcoming significant loss in reputation (and more severe) and number of users... (=loss of income).
But such a decision is surely no endpoint in development of strategies. Hopefully they have learned at least to communicate in future in time...
Nevertheless.. this doesn't mean they have changed from being perpetrator to a victim in a few days - that's a complete nonsene and such a story doesn't convince me at all!

Let's see what happens... I assume 5.0 will perhaps become something, that usually would have been 4.5 otherwise (because... I'm pretty sure the calculation now tells of less profit... which has to lead to a corresponding response =delay in development, for instance)....
Well, let's wait and see what will happen...

For my person: As long as they behave acceptable from my point of view I'll stay with their product(s). But... now - with each additional day passing by - I become more prepared to switch to an alternative (even though there's still no adequate alternative available right now) much more quickly like before.

No complaints here, these devices are really great and not another gimmick tool. Just wish I could use them on my Cubase projects too. Looking forward to the next update, well done for putting things right Bitwig :tu:

I make long compositions and sometimes there are sections that sound very different from how it sounds 30 seconds later in the next section. Transitions can sometimes be the most creatively challenging to have it sound organic, like it was natural to flow from one to the next.

I had been having trouble on one such transition. (thanks to the idea from foosnark) I just used the new spectral fx to manipulate the harmonics and develop a bit of tonal harmony between the end of one section and the start of the next. I also overlaid a drone that also was manipulated by the spectral fx and modulated to add a subtle rhythm. Ended up working well with the spectral fx creating the tonal glue but to also not just sound like a fade. :tu:

Morphing glues. It might be the beginning of new genres…

They did what they did because of 2 scenarios imho.
They are struggling with income and need a boost of revenue. Or. Because of greedy management or investors. If it is first they still need a boost, they will regroup and find the way to gain profit. If it second they will not abandon an idea of extra cash.
Either way it means that development of the platform will slow down significantly.
That said I will not support them until they prove that I’m wrong. And I’m really hope that I’m wrong but logic here says otherwise…

I've been exploring the Linnstrument's Channel Per Row mode. Combined with all the tools in Bitwig, it is a unique performative combination... It's not new genres... but new ways of working/playing. :tu:
