Sonar 4 is what I am using now. I ocassionally do bits in Sonar's little brothers, Project5 and Kinetic. I also from time to time use Fruity Loops and Arturia Storm. I also keep wanting to use Reason, but never get around to it.
But the answer is that my last several Cafe contest entries were recorded and sequenced in Sonar. Oh, and Sonar the-latest-version (4) and Sonar the-most-expensive (Producer).

Excellent -- I'm an arrogant sociologist, and as an added bonus I'm all stripedy too, so this is right up my alley. (That's ALLEY, and I will accept no substitutions.) Out of my way! Quiet in the house! I shall explain. *adjusts bow tie* *AHEM*ericj23 wrote:so has anyone noticed that (or said it already) that the two worst hosts in the recent poll are also the two most popular hosts here
says something but i will leave to the sociologists (or the arrogant) to work out what
Possibility 1: Sonar users tend to dislike Cubase, and vice versa. :-D
Possibility 2: People who use a tool a lot love its strengths but chafe at any shortcomings; if you're comfortable all over but have a tiny piece gravel in your shoe, which do you notice: comfy or gravel?
*removes bow tie, ignites it, and throws it to the adoring crowd*
Thengewverramudge.
*pants fall down*
=o.O= I've got to stop using bow ties as belts, that's all there is to it.

Hi all:
For me, Sonar 3PE (and now Sonar 4PE) is the only multitrack program of choose. It´s powerfull in features at two worlds: audio & MIDI, and make easy and transparent the integration either both.
I use it daylly in my Home Studio producing Jingles, Spots and other publicitary materials for radio and TV, and also producing CDs for local musicians. I can´t live without it, with sure.
Only for you know: here in Brazil we had recently the regional election in the cities. I did work two mounths and half producing the radio programs for a coalition of parties. Was 85 candidates for councilman and the candidate for mayor. One day a radio program for councilman, other day the radio program for mayor.
During all this work, wich that it implies in the production, record (in studio and external), edition, mix and masterization of the programs, I did not have an only one problem, as crash, dropout, or any another one.
My vote goes with certainty for Sonar, with maximum compliment.
Greetings.

Just a reminder post, I will be adding a similar post to each page as they come up, so everyone gets to read it. This is for the host you pull up most to get the job done.
I have left out some hosts from the list and have been kindly reminded – but I cannot edit the poll list now that the vote has started – the vote runs for five days whereby after that it will be frozen to represent a snapshot of current use in the hosts used to get a job done.
If you have a host that is not listed – please select Other and make a post indicating your vote. (if you post more than one host, the first will be counted, if its in the poll list in wont act like another vote)
At the end of the poll I will run through the threads and add up the votes for the hosts that were not in the poll list. So far votes for a lot of Logic, plus Live, Bidule, Buzz and MiniHost have been posted as part of the ‘Other’ listings.
Best regards,
Spe3d

puhh .. i am glad this isnt true ..Muff Wiggler wrote:doesn't it only host AU's?
and to make an AU, you gotta get Apple's permission, and have them assign you an AU vendor code?
which can and has taken months, delaying the development and release of plugins?
doesn't seem any more 'open standard' than ReWire, in fact, to these eyes, arguably less

Just a dig at the Apple's exclusionary attitude. Please corect me if I am off base but from the PC user's roost, the Mac platform does not appear to be open source (hence my bastardization of "democratic"), does it? As is Apple's attitude with respect to Logic's plugins as evidenced by Logic's repeated compatibility issues with many VST instruments and effect on OS X.Beardedone wrote:
Logic?
Is not exactly a democratic host is it then?
What exactly is a "democratic host", you Bear dé Done?

I voted other.
I still use Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Pro when I want to hack out an idéa fast. There's no plugins of any kind but I've got easy access to my external synths (with sounds I know and like) through patchmaps (e.g Cubase and others) which my new hosts Tracktion and energyXT unfortunately doesn't have. In my opinion a shame! However, I guess it's all about softsynths these days...
The other reason for still using the old bugger DOP is because I've got loads of material lying around waiting for me to convert it from DOPs proprietary .orc format to midi and audiofiles. And it's taking me forever...
Even though I like my new hosts very much there are still things about them that makes me grumble and groan once in a while. Sorry Jules but I hate the midi editing and composing in Tracktion. I do everything note for note with a pencil or clicking, not recording with the keyboard since I can't play it. Doing progressive metal drumtracks with intricate rhythms and fills takes forever in a good editor so...
I've just begun to scratch the surface on energyXT. Will it be the perfect host/sequencer for me? I don't know yet. It's too new for me to tell. But the pace of development by Jorgen is awesome!
I haven't tried Sonar...maybe I should?
A demo of Podium is on my harddrive. Maybe I'll take it out for a spin...
